Interesting to see these mash-ups released by the maker taking them to Mandarake a day after announcing them through instagram... not complaining, just something I don't think I've seen before. For once I can grab some Grody direct from Japan!!

Two major long time wants in the same week!

 

When it rains, it pours. Congratulations!

 

Man, gettin’ that Boss in recently really shook me to the core once I unboxed it. Such an incredible beginning for Paul in sofubi, and looking at where he’s come now since then. Congrats, Kevin!!!

 

Was there somewhere that showed/said Luke took these directly to Mandarake? He’s never done that before, or even talked about it being an idea. He’s got a case in Nakano Broadway inside a store called Bow Wow that he frequently sells out of, and rotates toys often. More often times than not people buy out of there and take it directly to Mandarake in Shibuya. Happened twice when we changed out the case in 2015.

 

@xSuicide Squadx I think these turned up the day after Luke posted a photo on Instagram - and the full range turned up on mandarake. Same marble patterns and everything.. Mandarake had them for what seemed to be retail. Why would somebody buy them within minutes/hours and take them to Mandarake only to lose money by selling them at a fraction of what they paid for them? That's why I assumed Luke just took them straight there to give global fans a chance especially USA peeps for the Kozik connection.

 

@badteethcomics It’s possible, I suppose! It’s super common for people to buy from his case, SuFes, WonFes, etc. and take a train directly to Mandarake and sell. Happens every event. I don’t follow Luke so I have no idea of reveal timelines on Instagram vs reveal times on Mandarake. Plus, if he wanted to give people a chance at the release, US or otherwise, they would’ve just been shipped to Amy and me like usual. But then again, that guy makes a lot of moves and moves to the beat of his own drum.

 

^^^ I 'spoke' to Luke at the time and he did sell them through his Nakano consignment case.

My guess is that Mandarake monitor those cabinets and swoop in on anything they think they can make a profit on.

In this instance an easy ¥2,000 for taking it round the corner, photographing and uploading.

They're not my bag but I reached out primarily let him know it could look a little shady from an outsiders perspective.

 

Thanks for the info! I didn't mind it at all and didn't think it looked shady... if anything I wish he did take some stock to Mandarake becausse the USD is destroying the AUD atm.. much better exchange rate with Yen for us, and cheaper shipping through EMS
