Anyone in the Philadelphia area who loves yokai? Not exactly TOY-related, but if anyone here is a fan of yokai, one of my favorite artists and authors, Matthew Meyer, is giving a presentation (sponsored by International House Philadelphia) on Japanese yokai at POD restaurant next week - Sept 16. I love his book - The Night Parade of One Hundred Demons: a Field Guide to Japanese Yokai - so much that I am driving several hours to be there. Check out his Facebook page below to see his amazing yokai illustrations. (His second book - The Hour of Meeting Evil Spirits - is due out in a month or so.) https://www.facebook.com/matthewmeyerart http://www.yokai.com http://www.amazon.com/The-Night-Parade- ... thew+meyer http://ihousephilly.org/calendar/japanese-fusion-at-pod Cindy P.s. If anyone here is going, let me know.....I'd love to meet a fellow yokai and toy enthusiast in person.....
Oh man, if only I could! Class and low funds have me in a bind. I've already put that book on my Christmas list since I'm at that age where my parents still insist they buy me a gift, but have no idea what to get me. Please do share your experience though! I'd love to hear about the event.
Hey, you could make it a cosplay event! That would be pretty funny, all these SB'ers show up in costume and make everyone else feel like they've missed some kind of memo...
