I've been on a Daniel Higgs (formerly of Lungfish) kick lately. He was getting to conceptually "noise" a few albums ago, but the latest (Say God) is great. On the total flipside, Devil Makes 3 has been in high rotation on my bar playlist.
Thanks NT and Aldo. No problem ... I just didn't want to be the "rap is dead" guy. Even if it is, I'm not quiiiite ready to admit it just yet.
Maybe I should have said "dormant". It goes in cycles and will most certainly come back strong at some point, but for the past many years I think it's been really weak.
Two Words: Black Breath I can't stop listening to the album - it's been on constant play for a month or two now.

I can't put down the new Intergrity, now I am off to se them in Anaheim! Now Black Breath is on my list...
This week I've been enjoying the Melvins new lp, dj sets by Mark Broom, & David Tagg's 'Pentacost'. Speaking of jungle, Source Direct were the bomb. Where are those guys now? I've been rocking some pirate radio sets by Remarc from 91-92. All good.
Hell yes. ...and Burzum, Darkthrone, Sunn O))), Boris, Misfits, Samhain, Laibach (old stuff mainly), Dead Can Dance, Clan of Xymox (Medusa album), Type O Negative and Carnivore (R.I.P. Pete Steele!)... But I like all kinds of music... MGMT, Sebastien Tellier... I LOVE Daft Punk, who doesn't... Lately I've been loving this really obscure old industrial/ noise group Last Few Days... Oh god I could go on forever...
This past month has been Tegan and Sara... over and over, and over again. Saw them live last week opening for Paramore, which was a hell of a show, even if Paramore isn't for everyone.
I've never listened to a complete Paramore album but when it's on, I find 'em refreshing. I got the new Negura Bunget this week. They use to be one of my favorite band but now, only the original drummer remains and it sound like prostitution.
Great stuff zinc! I was just listening to some of the Analord tracks... Analord 04 is definitely my favorite. "In Maze Park" by AFX
Old punk: Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Crass, Slapshot, DRI and TSOL before they went metal. Old Metal and Power Metal: Old Metal like Exodus and of course stuff like Slayer. Power Metal must be funny and have that blattant 80's fantasy vibe while being technically impressive Jazz: Old black guys on heroin, none of that Kenny G crap Underground Hip-Hop: Busdriver, MF Doom, Atoms Family, Weather Men, Codename Scorpion No BS comercial but I do like the oldies... BPD, De La etc. 70's Prog Rock: King Crimson, Allan Holdsworth, Chick Corea Wierd random whatevers: Prefuse 73, Tom Waits, Japanese noise music, Ween, Tortoise, Racheals, Brain Eno Intelligent Electronic: Aphex, Autechre, Square Pusher, BlackDog, Aumin Tobin, Luke Vibert
I have a rough time picking out my favorite for I have a few faves from each one. I should just make my own mix. It's been a while but I am going to go through them all. Listened to Unkle - Do Androids Dream of Electronic Beats? while at work today.
(A) Jungle Rot - thrash, don't know why they call it 'death'. Good head banging music. breakdowns for the sake of the song, not just because....I like this album, Great album art http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmUM5ec00A8 Honorable mentions: (B) Lightning Swords of Death <--- black metal, not nu metal emo core http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuBixaINeSc (C) Decrepit Birth good production/ technical death metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X91e3HBrQxw
