Is it really that hard for modern sofubi painters to just do some shit like that? Ridiculously simple and effective and charming.
Yep, they're all too busy trying to stand out from the crowd with flashier and flashier work. Simple and effective is not in their wheelhouse. I think its insulting to most toy makers. Their production paint work is often considered inferior to random airbrush jockies, charging big bucks to slather a toy in paint.
