I collect Skullbrain posts where collectors sell their collections and so far this one is my favorite.
He said in his second post on 10/14 that everything's in storage at his parents and that he'd post again in a month or two when he can get there and take some pics. It's only been 2 weeks, people.
as indicated in my original post, i wasn't going to visit my parents for a couple of months so didn't do a disappearing act. i'm visiting them over christmas (we live in different cities), so will try to catalogue everything the best i can and post accordingly early next year. i stored everything in two massive boxes and i spoke to my mum the other day about it on the phone. somewhat worryingly she checked my old wardrobe and said there is only one box in there...! hopefully my dad didn't end up giving it to a local charity or something.
Somewhere out there, there is a kid playing with a bin of dozens of rxh toys that his mom bought for him at a garage sale for $10.

Good?! Fuq that! I’d be pissed if my costly RxH collection ended up in a goodwill somewhere without my consent. There are plenty of toys made for children to play with. I set boundaries on stuff I paid way too much to admit to a stranger.
I remember Scott/stealthtank tried selling toys in a garage sale years back. The one-off RxH set and one-off sludge demon were not sold
If your sofubi collection ends up in a yard sale, Goodwill, etc., after you're dead, or even worse, while you're alive, you really screwed up.
I've been thinking about some poor little kid playing with my stuff, blissfully unaware of the values assigned to it all, and I think it's kind of funny.
If I remember correctly, in the days of the Kid Robot forum, some dude’s wife got pissed at him(for whatever reason) and took his entire D_nny collection to Goodwill. Another local collector happened to find ‘em and buy ‘em all by the dollar and had an instant collection, only to find out what happened later. Now I know those things ain’t shit to just about anyone here, but the principle of the situation is absolutely wild to me.
I’ve given away toys to friends over the years worth a small fortune now. Some thankfully still have em (oblivious to value) some have surely been passed on as toys to kids or lost. Some have even been sold for bugger all to pay off debts. My lil bro has some I gave him years back he still recalls them with disdain ingrate.
At the end of the day, as much as I treasure my dolls, they're just dolls. If they end up holding some sort of $$$ value near the end of my life, I hope I'm sound enough of mind to sell my collection to benefit my family financially. Otherwise, it's just a wall of plastic trash that brings me small spikes of dopamine a few times a week. I have a strict policy of opening all the bags, throwing away the headers, and playing with my stuff. I hope my kids will enjoy playing along with me at some point. I kinda like the idea of my stuff being sold on the cheap to neighborhood kids. Maybe it'll spark some of them to grow up and start collecting themselves.
My brothers friends wife took a bunch of his records to a charity shop once, without him knowing. Then a few days later, he's in the same shop flicking through the vinyl and finds a super rare record ... hmm, he thinks, what are the odds of finding such a rare gem I already own, in the same part of town I live in? Wrong!! Of course it was his actual record. Needless to say, his wife is a bit of a nightmare. One of those people who thinks having a 'clean up' means throwing everything out.
