Oh for sure, that was a pretty cool “era” of toys. I feel like the whole two-headed thing has been beaten to death now though.

Two headed Eagles, One eyed Toys, Mermaids, Pyramids, etc are just a new generation of ... people trying to find ways to express themselves... I really like Uzumarks Jimenjiu though.

That's the thing with any trend. For every great 2 headed toy we get an equally awful 1. Right now is the age or robots, and it's been a trend for a while. It's a little more interesting and diverse because there's 2 inspirations. Either chunky vintage mecha gorilla types, or microman, gundam, transformers inspired. I'd include Mechagodzilla as a 3rd inspiration but it's to a mich lesser extent for now. It's a lot harder to make a bad robot toy, but there are a few out there. Most are just lack luster and boring, while the few really good ones look awesome and well made.

Seems like the age of pachi kaiju, and most look bad IMO. Makers use a vintage aesthetic as a crutch so they can do sloppy sculpts and paint.

I think the worst aspect, is Pachi toys are supposed to be cheap and cheerful alternatives to the real thing .... NOT as expensive or more expensive than the real thing.

I kind of like the grilled chicken look of those Miscreation spiralheads. Or maybe I’m just hungry… (nah, I do like them! :D).

I think it started with Lenny and Spectrum Lab. He made something so original(and continues to do so) through an amalgamation of all vintage he loves, and even painted a pachi - style header to go with them. The only other pachi toy I can think of that’s true to form of its vintage predecessors is Kotorimark and the Kiba Kaiu. Pretty much everything else I’ve seen is so derivative while pretending it didn’t basically rip a bootleg and charge twice as much.

Yep. Some are actually heightening the art. Kotorimark did a total resculpt and it's absolutely amazing. I have to say even more beautiful than the original. I had no idea until I brought it home to compare to the OG vintage dino. I don't want to remove it from the net bag.

Yep those two are exceptions to the rule, and very good. Honestly even though people might consider Spectrum Lab to be Pachi. I have a hard time viewing it that way because his sculpting is so modern. His limbs connect how and where they should to the body, his sculpting is symmetrical and clean. Maybe it gets there more in the paint, but even his paint while minimal, is applied very well and cleanly to achieve the desired effect. Kind of like I don't see characters I've done like Krono as pachi. It's just new kaiju.

Yeah, SL stuff isn't Pachi in my eyes. Far too much care and attention put into the quality of the toys, presentation of the packaging and all the extra bonus stuff. Pachi to me, is much more rough around the edges. That roughness has a charm of it's own, of course.

Knowing this guy and having worked with him, I can tell you he barely speaks English, and he is very respectful and kind. I doubt he approves of or wants any kind of genocide. He probably just wanted a hardcore name. Kind of like a death metal band.

It’s called poetic licence. Conventional language or usual meaning taken to a different context in order to dramatize, embellish, clarify, etc. Art wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for it. True that some artistic strategies can fail their purpose, but in this case, with the obvious horror/gorey references and all, labeling the artist in such a way is overreacting.

If it's truly ignorance as Joe is suggesting, then maybe a friend can enlighten this person and they can respond appropriately. Using another language without doing the simplest research is fucking stupid.

Knowingly using genocide as a juvenile marketing ploy for a shitty dolly is a POS move and the label is appropriate. "artistic strategies":lol::lol:

This is not poetic license. "The imaginative and linguistic freedom granted to poets, allowing them to depart from normal prose standards of factual accuracy, syntax, grammar, or pronunciation where this may produce a more satisfying imaginative or metrical effect."
I don't see a backstory on this figure/character to even try to connect this with "poetic license" lol

Now tell us about how cool these dickwads making nazi toys are

These are really good points and bunches I hadn’t considered. I think I just associated SL with pachi ‘cause he’s a HUGE fan of pachi toys and has an amazing collection. So in seeing his constant posting of pachi toys in congruency with his releases, I just convoluted the two.

I use -poetic licence-, I'm sorry, different upbringing (the Cambridge Dictionary exists!).

Who's talking about nazis? I'm not. "Now tell us" you know genocide is an umbrella term.

Genocide or no genocide, I truly just hate the toy. Enough with the skinless abominations already.

There is a Wonder Woman villain named "Genocide" too.

Unless they added some sort of nazi slant to the toy itself- it just seems like a generic word for mass murder to me. There have been many genocides against lots of different groups over the centuries. Aliens can commit genocide against humanity in science fiction. Orcs can commit genocide against elves in fantasy. Strange to assume it was trying to evoke the holocaust or something equally repulsive with no other evidence that I can pick up on.

Because yes, I agree- nazi toys are fucking gross. But, connecting some demon flesh monster named 'Genocide' to those actual atrocities seems like a big leap. And to be clear- that doesn't mean I think it's clever, and the toy is lightspeed uggo. But, seems like there are already enough truly horrible people in the world that we should save our outrage for.

I think @MonstaIslandCzar has an issue because the term Genocide was coined near the end of WW2. Of course there has been genocides before that time, but my understanding of the term usually brings to mind the murder of all those Jewish people. I can understand why anyone would have an issue with the name of the toy.
