It seems that @Rich hasn't been active here for quite a while. Did I miss a big blowout? Banning? Is there an SB 2.0 I'm not aware of?

 

He's got a Discord now, I believe.

 

Why am I imagining a Discord where everyone is just screaming “SALE TO ME” in an endless cycle?

 

Why won't you sale to me? Seriously though I tried to find it, but came up empty. I was hoping someone would sale to me.

 

Some recent Berserker drops, i really like these colorways.

 

Iirc there were two times where Rich advertised the Discord and it was open invite with a provided discord.gg invite link. However, the server is not open invite in the sense that I don't have the ability to generate a new invite. If you want to join the server, I'm not sure if you would have to wait until the next time he advertises it. Otherwise, only mods and owners can generate server invites.

Rich is not a fan of Skullbrain. He's stated it's 'toxic' (or equivalent) more than once.

 

One man's toxic is another man's treasure. It took him 12,333 messages to come to that conclusion. Maybe after 10k more messages I'll start my own utopian Discord echo chamber as well. Fare thee well.

Btw I saw a pic of one toy (maybe the mushroom head thing with a DX looking body) with what was a very prominent red armband with a white circle and black MVH font.
I was disappointed to say the least. Wish he would’ve stuck to skulls and rotten things. I thought it wasn’t a run from him but it appears it is :/

dunno if some just like to take the Piss with these references but homeslice isn’t even that unaware anymore. Maybe he doesn’t like SB bc it’s not that open to those things anymore? Iuno. Bummer still

 

Oh, you mean the Death’s Vault colors he’s been using for a decade? And with this being a Japanese toy and a mix of at least two kaiju/tokusatsu Japanese characters, probably safe to say the red arm band signifies leadership since that is its primary meaning in Japanese culture as far as I know.

Heya. Thanks for the clarification. It still a pass for me but enjoying the collection shots.
I’m still bummed out the band graphic design getting slapped so prominently.

i think what has set apart Rich’s work has been his continues tries and tons of success at making just other stuff. I find the reference trite and that it’s slapped on a color way that’s been his staple, puts me off. I’m aware of his career. I see it.

To stay on the topic, the vast majority of his header cards are amazing but displaying the toy with the armband (don’t care if the Pantone on the red to Orange don’t match) feels like it kills the toy, even with a baller card like MVH can put out. Iuno. The things sell like pancakes so it’s def a wining formula.

Nobody is calling anyone here names.
I’m just just bummed when makers I like make stuff I’m kinda not that into so I go to an online forum to share that which could’ve been a tweet. Put the forks down.

Re: armband in Japan: westerners use the imperial sun and its connotations like it’s butter which is another topic so even then it’s like out of left field for me.

I have taken a moment to read all these comments and I have to say, man this is absolutely insane.

I’m not a Nazi sympathizer or was even thinking Nazi when I painted it.

The colors are orange, to match the eye and the stick color just matched well since I didn’t have an orange sticker to match.

That’s literally as far as it went.

Not even for a remote second did I ever think in my wildest dreams this would ever be a conversation.

It won’t happen again, it was never meant to be that way.

Yea I was referencing some Japanese style hero toys he’s a hero rider homage toy. That’s about it. That’s as far as it goes.

The people here immediately accusing me of all these horrible things over slapping on an orange arm band and a sticker is horrible.

Do people even give anyone the benefit of the doubt anymore or do people immediately accuse people of the most heinous acts without any context?

I just made a toy with colors I liked and that’s as far as I was thinking.

 

To accuse, Rich of being these heinous things for making a toy with an arm band, is way over the line. He’s the furthest thing from it.

 

It's kind of wild to accuse someone who has been making toys for 15 years to suddenly introduce Nazi sympathies into their toy line. To what end? I won't deny there are some brands out there that are a little too edgelord-y for me to collect even if otherwise I like much of the design, but this just kind of strikes me as virtue signaling. If you want to not collect someone because of your perception regardless of whether or not it is based in reality, you do you, but to start grabbing the pitchforks and rallying the villagers...gross.
