Big lost for the comic world I was fortunate enough to meet him a few years ago. He made this sketch for me

Sad day. I'll go read l'Incal and curse the "friend" who threw away my complete Métal Hurlant collection. I would have needed a good dose of Garage Hermétique right now...
I don't think anyone can overstate the skill and creative genius of Moebius. There is far too much great work to be posted in one thread, but here is some of his conceptual work for various popular movies (for those who don't know his other stuff) Jean "Moebius" Giraud Another loss of a great legend. RIP
What a terrible month for losing those that illustrated my youth... time to crack out Les Maîtres Du Temps and Absynth!
Just saw this...and that fucking sucks. His work still blows my mind...best line control I have ever seen.
Omg, FIrst Ralph McQuarrie and now Moebius. Very sad. My first memory of Moebius was in (as Oli mentioned) Heavy Metal magazine as a teenager. The Art of Moebius by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
in case you arent on flickr or the internet of awesome stuff- electricantzine.com is doing this great jam paying homage to moebius and inspired by the monster brains post of JG's trading card set! keep your eye on this because there are a lot of rad people who are going to be doing drawings for this
That is a great doc. I especially enjoyed the discussion concerning the connections between himself, Jodorowsky, and Giger in the 70s/80s.
