I really want this F.A.H. villain but way out of my current range:

Not a bad price though, since King Flasher goes for around the same and this guy doesn't come up as often. Glad oku**** did NOT bid or win.

Well this was a real hard one for me too. I can think of at least other guy on here would have dearly wanted to win this auction. Large size Ultraseven with removable mask: :(

    Such a beauty.

Re: strange or rare yahoo auctions post here (after theyre o

^^^Yeah that would me I think (but I'm sure a ton of people here would want it!) I almost wish someone would repro it (with mask) to put me out of my misery because I know I'll never find one for less than a mint. That Ultraseven was in great shape. I checked again this morning and it was already up to 77000 yen. Then I forgot about it watching the Djokovic/ Murray Wimbledon final.

Did you see the other auction this seller had? Nearly perfect large size Tiger Seven complete with both gloves (also going for a mint!):

The take away from both of these is I finally have some decent pics!

So true Lixx! I love it when sellers post large, good quality pics, something you don't get too often on YJA. It especially makes a huge difference when you are considering spending this kind of money.

I didn't check out the seller's other listings, as I was so obsessively focused on the U7, but man, that Tiger7 is definitely a real find. Best example I have yet to see - again, worth it (to me) if you have that kind of money.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see that price on the Tiger 7, but I sure am glad I got mine when I did. Sent my backer card to a friend who scanned it and turned it into a T-shirt.

That sounds fantastic. What a brilliant idea. Can we see a pic of the shirt, if it has survived the wash cycles? :)

Hubba Hubba!!! Thank you for sharing that auction Chris! I've never seen one that pristine and now I know what the gloves look like. Ahhhh... if I only had a never-ending-sprouting money tree

Heres an interesting one. Apparently its a prototype for a standard size ninja arashi that was never produced. Id like to know the full story behind this one.

Very strange, what a cool prototype. It looks almost like a scaled up version of the mini figure. Did it mention the size of it? Not sure I would go all out on an auction like this, but it is really interesting to see stuff like this pop up.

Yeah its 25cm. I was thinking about bidding (before it got this high) but didnt know enough about it to think about throwing down on it.

Re: strange or rare yahoo auctions post here (after theyre o

I was going to say the same thing about the size. I had to re-read what you wrote to wrap my head around it being a standard sized figure. Pretty much looks like the same mold as the Popy, only no sword in back and the scarf is molded on the sculpt. The only movable part is the waist, which had me thinking mini at first. Huh standard eh?

That's a big chunk of change to spend on a prototype, I'd like to see amongst other Ninja Arashi toys to get a better feel for it.

Re: strange or rare yahoo auctions post here (after theyre o

Well seeing as this is a prototype they might have been planning to add more articulation, (at least on the legs). If you look at the larger photos you can tell the face mask has much more detail than the popy. Really nice, not $5k nice but still.

Oh don't get me wrong I really think the face looks great, very detailed but not too detailed. Way more than the Popy, it's just with the articulation that's what it reminded me of. Were there any close up pics of the face/mask?

    Fucking bullshit.

The auction was listed as "Marusan Gorosaurus"...conspicuously with NO photos of the bottom of the toy's feet. I had my agent inquire about the feet, and immediately AFTER the close of the auction, the seller sent these pics:

Boy, someone's gonna be fucking PISSED when they realize they paid over $1200 for a $50 toy repainted to look like a $2000 one.

That's major BS! Yeah with vintage you always need to see the bottom of the feet. 99.9% of the time you'll see the company markings there.

I know we're kinda not really supposed to divulge the identity of the seller (in case someone is watching an active auction of theirs)...but fuck it. We need to air this asshole out:

    AVOID kinzouyatomi

Here's the link to the actual auction if anyone wants to dig deeper:

Good to know. Just from looking at the bids I can see a few deputy buying services, so definitely people should be aware. Thanks for posting Sanjeev.

Re: strange or rare yahoo auctions post here (after theyre o

Based on the auction info, this looks like one of the IDs for a mass selling service- the other names are other big resellers of old/used toys. I don't think they know what they are selling half the time, so my sense is that the lack of disclosure was not intentional.

The tells for the Gorosaurus are the size (too small) and the blue paint, which should be darker. If you're planning to drop $1,200 on a vintage toy, you should have known enough to see those tells.

Re: strange or rare yahoo auctions post here (after theyre o

Thanks for the insight, Daniel! I'm not so convinced this was unintentional, however: my agent requested those photos of the bottom of the feet several days ago...and he received them *literally* minutes after the close of the auction. C'mon.

Anyway, the biggest tell in my opinion was that the toy was listed as a "Marusan Gorosaurus", not a "Bullmark Gorosaurus"! But yeah, the purple paint definitely isn't as heavy as it is on any of the legit ones I've seen.

Man...I feel bad for the winner. I wonder if s/he'll try to get their money back...
