We have a local joint here called Pop, the Soda Shop. They import sodas from all over and have a pretty huge variety. I also got a couple root beer kegs for a friend of mine on his birthday.
Went through a whiskey and blueberry juice period quite a few years back. Fun while it lasted but it didn't end well.
Yeah, but I think cola is the enemy of whiskey; ruins both. Seriously, consider the blueberry thing - worst outcome is you pour out a single drink!
I rarely drink soda - hence my "beer" comment - but once every few years I'll have a Squirt. And I'll have a few sips of root beer to wash down a Costco hotdog and rarely a ginger ale on a plane (prefer tomato juice though!). That's the extent of my soda intake. Soda is fucking gross!
Mexican coke actually tastes different(better)than regular coke because they use real sugar and not corn syrup like we do in America. South America uses sugar because it's cheaper for them since they grow the sugar. The USA generally uses horrible cancer causing corn syrup because it's cheaper than shipping sugar from somewhere else. The shit part is that mexican coke is so popular here in the states that most of what they produce is shipped to us and in South America they have to drink the American crap with corn syrup.
It was actually falling asleep during a public screening of, heh, The Big Sleep. After the film there were a couple of desperate hours where I tried to find my keys, eventually having to find a friend to drive the 40 minutes to the repertory theatre to pick us up. Found the keys in my bag on the way home. Day drinking sweetened whiskey in public came to an end that afternoon. Sure, there are worse stories of drunken excess, but it was enough for me.
You know what is the greatest thing right now? That Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. Don't know if you guys have ever been able to try one of these out, but they're a blast. Every time I go to Wendy's (which isn't very often because I'm just not a fan of the menu besides the cheese fries) I make some crazy concoction. I think last time I went, I made raspberry vanilla Coke Zero. Another time I made lemon-lime Coke Zero. Another time I made creamsicle root beer. Reminds me of the days when I was really young and would mix together a splash of every available soda at the fountain when I went to any fast food joint.
I mainly only drink Coke as a mixer, with Bourbon. Although recently I switched to Lamb's Navy Rum. I do half Fentiman's Curiosity Cola and half diet Coke. Fentiman's is the best tasting cola I've ever tasted. Its not cheap though, thats why i half it with normal diet Coke. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fentimans_Curiosity_Cola As for Pepsi, I've always found it too sweet.
Back in the day, Surge was my drink of choice. I remember being really excited to find it in an old machine in the basement of some building, a year or two after it was discontinued in most places. I'm sure the stock was ancient. Then there was Vault, which was similar, but not as good. And then they did the Surge revival a few years ago. My brother was nice enough to grab me a pack of those when they were first released. I remember it being definitely Surge, but not quite the same as the drink sold in the late 90s. Now it's black coffee, water and whiskey.
I very rarely drink soda anymore... I was always a Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb guy But I have one can of this in my fridge for a special occasion
I was a huge partaker in Coke and Captain Morgan rum. My poison, if you will. The last time I ever got drunk was a little before my 18th birthday and I had over half a gallon of rum straight. Suffice to say it’s self explanatory why I stopped drinking after that. Vanilla Coke, though. Man, in high school I’d take down between four and six cans a day. Greatest mixture of flavors I have ever known! But as aging comes, the metabolism goes, and the constant sugar was just a bad idea. I was also downing up to three energy drinks a day when it wasn’t soda. Horrible. So I stopped drinking carbonated drinks altogether about four years ago. Just water, coffee and various flavors of tea!
FENTIMAN'S!!! I completely forgot about this! That is one incredible cola. A tad on the expensive side though, you're right. I'll have to try your half/half method sometime! Anyone here a fan of Tab? I used to drink it on the beach as a teen. My parents bought it as a "blast from the past" sort of thing and I was hooked. Not sure why I stopped drinking it. Maybe I have to pick up a case next time I'm at the supermarket... do a side-by-side taste test of Diet Coke, which is the household's cola of choice.
I’ll drink Coke Zero on occasion, as the real thing does feel akin to battery acid. But my beverage of choice is usually water. Or bourbon.
Coca-Cola Classic is the nectar of the Gods. Seems like everyone that likes Pepsi also has drank battery acid at some point so it's pretty clear there is something wrong mentally with those folks.
You sound like an old man....just like me. I'll throw in an occasional beer for good measure but for the most part, that's all I drink these days as well.
