@deafmetal spectacular! Really nice and shiny and clean! Thank you for sharing all of the detailed photos. Such a fun toy from many aspects! How did you manage to straighten the cardboard? I'm so impressed with your toy cleaning skills! How are you displaying it?
@rattanicus @Alebrije @XVivaHateX - Thank you, this was a really fun toy to come across. I am always hunting for those little gojis, and I almost fell off my chair when I saw two of them riding together in a vintage 70's speedboat! I am wondering what the story is behind this lot, or if there are other examples out there like this (or other vehicles?). @Mr. Humphreys - Thanks, Grace. I first cleaned the cardboard insert to get all the dirt and dust off, and then put it between two large hardcover books with a weight on top. I think I left it in there for many weeks or even months, I forget now. I also carefully (by testing first) used some Goo Gone cleaner to get the old adhesive tape residue removed from the clear topper and the side of the boat. I don't like using such a harsh cleaner on toys, but that caked-on ancient clear tape gunk was not coming off without taking something like a razor blade to the plastic. Thankfully, the cleaner removed it easily without any blemishes. It does slightly change the uniform polished feel of the pvc/plastic, so I would not use that on anything expensive, or that you might be concerned with the uniformity of the plastic texture. I have never used it on sofubi/soft vinyl.
A few days ago I received this beautiful blue Goji in the mail, I should thank to a great collector of this board @deafmetal for giving me the opportunity to add this beautiful piece to my collection, adding a vintage Marusan Goji to my collection was a subject I had pending, technically this is my second Marusan Goji, unfortunately the first was one of my worst experiences as a collector came with a part of the vinyl of the head burned and one of the unions of the right leg cut, that's why this piece it´s so special for me. Thank you for all Mark!
@Alebrije - Roger, very glad to see it arrived safely and is going to a great home. If anybody else is interested in a vintage goji, I have some Bullmark and Marusan examples I am going to be passing along. Send me a PM for a preview of the listings.
I want a vintage green goji please ...sorry, just couldn't resist! Congrats Roger on a very nice adoption, and so generous and nice of you Mark to keep the toys "in the family"
I'm a n00b when it comes to vintage vinyl, but like that this Lixx initiated thread is so popular and means that his name still shows up on the front page regularly! Life's short! . . . don't fuck it up!
@deafmetal Mark again thank you for all your attentions, I have really enjoyed this Marusan Goji, let me tell you it's more handsome in person. Hope your other Gojis end up in good homes, @Mr. Humphreys Grace you should adopt one of the vintage Gojis, they would be a great company for your other kaijus figures.
@deafmetal Aw, thanks for finally sharing some photos of that lovely speedboat set, Mark. Sorry I had missed it when you originally posted it here. Such a great toy, and I love the idea of these Goji buddies just cruising around, having a great time. I'd really love to see/hear any other reports people have for these little resin-like figures. There are indeed a ton of stuff out there, like Jonathan said, that you would probably never have know about (or even thought of) until you discover it in the wild. @Alebrije Beautiful Roger, so many congratulations to you on your first (if technical second), Godzilla. And of course many thanks go out to Mark for making this happen. I know you were understandably saddened by the condition of the the first one you adopted, so I am very happy to see this excellent replacement come into your toy family. @djkemp Standard-sized fellows, say whaaaaaat?
@ultrakaiju I know, I must be mad, the cabinet fills up really quickly when you start buying standards!
Oh you are not wrong there, Dave. While I appreciate the challenge of focus and having to fit in/rearrange the modes display I have if a new standard guy comes in, having more space is always a desire.
Few things acquired in the last few weeks, Thanks in part to @Mark K - Thanks man! and a great tip from @ultrakaiju Merry christmas everyone ... hope Santa brings you some vinyl!
@XVivaHateX HI Jonathan! That Barom1 is licenced but I am not sure of the maker... its a pencil sharpener!
@scobot great haul scot, reminds me the old vintage mail day @Lixx Chris photos. The best for you and your family for this holidays.
Nice! I am trying to complete my standard Orange Magma Taishi kaiju set too, I'm halfway there. What is the large red kaiju in the top pic? Marusan Original?
A few days ago I received this gift by mail from a great collector, I can only be grateful. Thailand Bootlegs.
Wonderful bootlegs, Roger! I can sense some other collector appreciates your friendship (also) very much. That UFO set is solidly rad.
Some new guys from the other day. Filled some holes with the ninja arashi mid-size. Replaced the Antlar I sold years ago. This one is a Marusan though. Ive been buying a lot of minis lately due to space issues.
@XVivaHateX you made some great additions to your collection where I turned my eyes I see a figure that I like. Congrats for this great haul!
