According to Vinyl Pulse, this figure will only be available at the Pervasion opening this Saturday and then on Baseman's site. I wonder why Baseman and Critterbox chose to go this route with Lil' Copy Cat when the other Dunces were sold at numerous retailers.
check how many retailers still have these available. I don't think these are selling as well as Cbox or Baseman had hoped...
Yeah, I heard that the other Dunces haven't been selling well. In my opinion, Copy Cat is the best design. It's the only one I want. I'm thinking that Baseman and/or Critterbox will be able to keep more profit this way.
honestly who really knows whats going on with Cbox. Its a shame..despite the really nasty PR and never releasing toys when they say they will, the toys they have released are pretty killer.
i dunno, everyone says the quality is amazing but the paint has been seriously effed up on several CBox toys i've purchased, not to mention serious shelf-diving issues. (but others have been quite nice) le sigh...
Well, like GB, I've been waiting for Copy Cat for quite a while (the person in front of me in line at SDCC got the last one) so I'll definitely be picking one up.
I think one of the main problems with alot of Baseman & Biskup items, is the saturation level. Seems like they release new toys on an all too regular basis. You also have the fact that the Dunce's came out way after the initial release anticipation had died down. If your gonna make a big deal about a release then have it closer to an actual release date, not a year late ! Look at the Dumb Luck figure now, so many releases now you can hardly give them away. I hate to say it, but thats the speculation game for you flippers. I hope the Kaiju collectors are paying attention. I think it's important (not to pay) inflated prices for what we collect, or we could find ourselves in the Star Wars TRASH COMPACTER. I love my toys but I always look for so called deals. Hmmm, soft vinyl please!
It's all in the timing . . . . and these missed the boat! The hype generated by SDCC should've had 'em flying off the shelves but the delay in release means it's cooled. I have the original 4 and can't offload 'em (to make space for the SB) without taking a major hit
It's so true. It's even beginning to happen with the Hotcha cha cha (at least for me). It's been so long since I first wanted it that I no longer want it even if it gets released. It's a great figure, but it's now dead. CB really screwed themselves by creating hype without a release. I think the only thing that can survive the hype-crash is the Walker, but I think even it has suffered a little.
Hot Cha Cha, man I almost forgot that one . Has'nt that figure been on standby for nearly 2 fuck'n years now. CB should F'n grow up. Enough with the hype allready, your killing off all the interest you generated in the first place ! I think it's obvious that some of these toy company's have very flawed production values. What a shame for them.
CB's handling of the Baseman toys and the Obey toy among others makes me wonder why Soto even went w/ Critterbox in the first place...the guys at CB are obviously great at getting prototypes made and making promises but not closing the deal. Another thought...do Japanese toymakers like BxH even want to handle foreign artists anymore in terms of getting new toys made? BxH made toys by Kozik, Jarvis, and Kaws back in the day but nothing like that in recent times...
According to my Summer of 2004 Juxtapoz Special, Hot Cha Cha Cha should be out really soon. As for Baseman, the Dunces on my shelf will look good completed, but along with the Dumb Lucks, these are now the only Baseman figures I kept. M5
