for god's sake,,nobody do another 100k BIN!!!! this will only set the market rate to a new height...flippers are already upping their stake's since they saw the one go for 100k.... you are only hurting other's chances of grabbing one at a decent price (and i am considering 50k decent ) it is not like this is some long-gone one-off piece..they were made in a sizeable number only a couple months ago...there are definitely more out there MIB waiting to be loved,,they are just being hoarded for now...let them trickle out,,,but not at $1300 a pop!!! be patient & wait the auction out....
Link PMed. Zero feedback seller, apparently no COD... Shouldn't be discussing this here anyway but its posted already.
What do you people see in this toy? Are you insane? Close your eyes and look at it again. I think it must be that they are so impossible to get. Can someone explain what is so special about this sculpt?
I looked my my two and, yes they are worth it. The sculpt to me is perfection and the paint app is also perfection. What is so special about all sculpts for that matter ?? It all boils down to personal preference, some figures just click with you. For me this is perfection.
Just don't see it. This figure would go the space trooper route if there were just alot more of them. Low run = high demand. I have seen alot of pictures of each of these. Can someone post a picture that they think does one of these figures true justice? Cause I look at the paint scheme and don't see it. I look at the sculpt and don't see it. I'm glad you guys like it, but I wish I saw what you see.
That helps. But $600-$1200 for one? I remember seeing a red one for about $400 and thinking that was expensive a few months ago. They are factory paints, right?
I can't wait for HP two-headed Bemons to start popping up. The OG bemon smog sculpt hps were going for 500 which I totally understand but when a two headed one pops up the BIN is going to be out of the roof. The funny thing about the last two headed that sold for like 1200 (after fees)...was that the winner could have bid 700 on it and probably won...because I think a majority of people feel that 700 is insane. Anyway..to each their own> I think the sculpt is pretty cool but spending 1000 is seriously funny.
Honestly pictures don't do this figure justice. First off the sculpt is awesome in hand, its has a lot of texture but in a Japanese toy way... hard to describe. And so far from what I saw the paint apps are very gentle and well thought out. This I appreciate more than anything else. I suppose its a love it or hate it thing, if you dont care for it dont even try to understand why others do.
Either you like it or you don't. But I highly agree on the fact that like most Bemon releases, it's the scarcity that depicts its value. True that the sculpting and paint is great though not significant enough to be worth over a grand. It's just a debate whether one should love a figure over it's exclusiveness rather than for the toy itself.
which figure wouldn't go down this route if the supply is far higher then demand? also, no figure in this world has an universal appeal that everyone who sees it will like. it is normal that some will like it and some don't. infact, the total run is not that super micro for the bemons or 2heads. there are just very few sold via normal distribution channels and u had to really do your homework to get any of them. For instance, there are only three blue 2heads sold via CKA this time. this elusive allure coupled with strength of the sculpt itself makes the current demand far exceeding the obtainable supply.
When I think of all the cool toys I could get for a grand compared to this guy, it kinda makes me chuckle when I think someone would literally drop a grand on it. I mean the sculpt is ok but for that kind of loot I would rather have some Anraku, Target Earth, Zollmen, Shikaruna. Hell I'd take a GID bemon and probably still have some change leftover for some of those. To each their own I guess.
As far as monster toys go, its pretty badass. It seems like a very imposing figure, with a very Patchi feel to its production. The character has this throwback kinda vibe to it...in a cool Ray Haryhausen kinda way....
To each his own for sure. The biggest reason I love this figure is because it's the creature from one of the best Famous Monster covers that I enjoyed during my childhood. To see it brought to life in 3d blew me away. I know a lot of folks are rationalizing that the sculpt is one reason it's such a killer figure, however in my honest opinion, the sculpt is really not that great, seriously. Yes, the character design/concept is wicked and I am trying to separate that from the "sculpt" and just talk about execution. The figure has a lot of great texture to it, but the proportions and parts of the body are pretty lumpy and not quite anatomically defined. Compare the chest, thighs and hind legs on the FM cover and the figure. Just look at my pics from my photoplay of his back legs and the arms and I think you can get a better idea of what I mean, they lack definition and symmetry. Look at an M1 Gojira or a Gargamel Zag sculpt, these have great form and proportions. Look at some of the old Aurora model kits, those were based off of some great "sculpts". I also think the paint apps and colors of the vinyl for the first two releases sort of compensates for those aspects of the "sculpt" I'm being critical of. This is just my honest opinion, I just think it could have been interpreted much better. Then again, the model used in the movie sucked canal water in Venice and I liked it's crudeness...maybe the Bemon dudes were just trying to replicate it. And yeah I have one so I can talk shit about it and maybe drive the hype down so I can get a red one at some point.
The character/ movie was a deliberate creation to capitalize on the success of Ray Harryhausen's Cyclops from the "7th Voyage of Sinbad"
