My first Gobo King. Went for version A.
Any way we can maybe change this to a full fledged Gobo Gang thread? With the addition of the two sculpts I'm about to post about, it'll now make three of the minis made into full sized figures, and it'd be cool to keep the Gang together!
Machine Gun Ghost: This one is so damn cool. Really lovin' the Stacey Addams shoes, the underfoot gun barrel, the gun and clip, and alternative right hands! This one's a regular hand, and the other he's posted is a spiked ball. Love the shit eating grin most gangster characters have, too. And instead of a cigar clamped between his teeth, it's a creature tongue instead!
Gyochō: I mentioned this on Paul's post, but I think this might be my new favorite sculpt he's done to date. And Paul sure as hell doesn't make it easy to choose!!! Love, love, love the classic PK beak, and the wings look so legendary. Like they're something you could only imagine in your head listening to folktales about the creature. Also, not sure if that's an arm or a worm on the right. Maybe a worm arm? I don't know. I'm just excited as hell for a full reveal.
Agreed an all-encompassing Gang thread would be optimal moving forward. Would be great if the OG thread could be merged with this for posterity's sake.
Stoked as well for the upcoming full-size figs. Nothin' but love for all things Gobo-related and happy to see the gang baddies back in the limelight.
Got some visual updates from Paul recently! These two images are definitely cementing this as my favorite sculpt by Paul to date. I'm very curious about the size(as well as the Machine Gun Ghost), too!
I'd seen these on PK's instagram . I imagine this is what Konatsu's Pigora would look like if mutated to its final version. The "Dorat to MKG" phenomena so to speak. Pigora's a charming little bird thing. It's only a matter of time before I get a Nikki customized version.
This is Pigora (in 1 of the few painted like different birds releases) for those who haven't seen:
Adding a final finale from Paul for posterity. I can't get enough of this one already. Bravo, Paul.
Paul is the missing link between vintage and Neo Kaiju. It's been a real pleasure to see his creations.
Perfectly put, Jeff! That perfect sweet spot, indeed. It’s always a pleasure to see/hear what drew Paul’s influences, as well. It’s rather vast, as are his executions. They all share signature traits in their aesthetics, without looking derivative of each other, or similar.

LOVE THE NEKOMEI!!
I agree the thread should be changed to Gobo Gang. I forgot what the box with the eye is called but I can't wait for a full size of that. I just put one of those on my desk.
Boss Receiver. Ever since Gobogang's been revisited/evolved have wondered if that one will too (since it was the lone 'finger puppet' of the minis).
Guess time will tell...
Standard Neko RULES. Beyond excited for all 3. Already impossible to play faves among them.
Boss Receiver!!! THank you.
Machine gun ghost.
This guy looks to be loads of fun.
Paul has been goin' absolutely bananas with the Machine Gun Ghost. Lots of visual variety, and definitely in a class of it's own bad assery.
This Machine Gun Ghost was picked up for a dear friend, so that's why there's only in - bag shots. Rest assured, it's as amazing as it looks out of the bag. I love, love, love that Paul has dubbed this an official mascot toy.
This header art by Melissa Super Junk is so amazingly fun, as well. She captures Paul's 3D characters in 2D in the best possible way. It's always so great to see these characters have duality between physical and on - paper existence!
And last, but far, far from least, an official test paint of Gyocho! One of my biggest anticipations for DCon this year!
I can say with pretty much certainty that Machine Gun Ghost is my favorite Paul sculpt. I honestly cant look at this toy and not get excited and want to play with it.
Only one more member of the gang left to sculpt, can’t wait to see the whole group together one day!
Paul was kind enough to grace us with a size comparison for the Gyochō. I’m so, so, so excited to see this in person at DCon. Hopeful to snatch up one of each in the photo!
@Paulkaiju saw ‘em first.
The Gang's almost all here!!!
Apparently those chrome Gobo Kings are pretty damn rare. They tried to do a run of 20 or so but only 5 of them came out in sellable quality, so it's more of a micro run than thought
I think the Gobo King is under-appreciated honestly, aside from the fact it's a bit of a piggy on the shelf
Always wanted one. Someday!
Pretty sure I can rub & buff the remaining helmets into better shape for a later show. It's just going to require a whole days elbow grease.
It's a shame we couldn't work out the proper mounting of the parts for the application process. It was a four chemical spray machine that used high temps. So mounting the parts was probably the hardest part so they didn't sag, yet could be rotated while the chemicals were applied. I think individual parts were definitely a better thing than whole figs getting their joints fused.
It's really strong stuff and much better than the vacuum plating type done awhile back though.
Make some shelf space for piggy.
Definitely hope to see more of gobo king next year!
Couldn’t be happier or more in awe for how excited I am that Gyochō is here, and in my home! This was a highly anticipated toy for me, and it goes without sayin’ that Paul did not disappoint. There is SO much character here. It’s large, menacing, pissed off, evil, merciless. The Biter club it wields looks of both battle and royalty. The way it sits, the expression on its face, just reads “overlord” to me. The wings, in both the way they’re sculpted and span, give it such an ancient feel. I also love the dichotomy between air and see in its features, yet, they flow seamlessly throughout the body and form. My favorite part of this paint app, is the wings. The tips of them, particularly in the stylized photo I took, look as if they’re radiating a golden glow from them. I’ve nicknamed it “Laurence Fishbird.”
Damn those photos bring out so much in the sculpt that I’ve never even noticed. Stunning photos and such a great toy!
