since may of 05 Denver has seized & executed well over a 1000 pitbulls. only for being dogs within the city limits. hitler would be proud.
That law is a result of the stupid owners of the dogs, not the dogs themselves. Too many kids have been attacked here by Pit Bulls in Denver and Aurora. Since the people here cannot manage their animals, a law had to be put in place to protect others from the ignorance of the few. Ruined it for everybody.
Scott - dude Iam SO sorry to hear about this! BUT, I am absolutely sure that waht will come out of this is a much better gig for you, where you will not have an a-hole boss - just gotta keep that in mind during this period. Also, like Kurt says - make teh most of it if u can - search for that job, get it, and if you can swing it, negotiate a start date that allows some downtime.
I am familiar with the rationale behind BSLs(breed specific laws), the problem is they don't work. They are, however, great PR for politicians and great fundraising tools for "humane" societies. The number one problem breed for bites involving children in the USA is the Collie. I agree about the stupid owners being the major problem, but the innocent dogs pay with their lives. The worst part is, the same dopes will go out next week and get another "tough guy" dog from another breed. Then some politician will rile everyone up about Rottweiler attacks.
Wow, that royally sucks. The only thing that doesn't suck is that I know you will be better off in the long run and your former boss took you for granted. His loss. Granted, that doesn't make up for the stress and crap you have to deal with right now. lmk if you need a hand with anything or feel like hanging out.
alright, let's re-evaluate your skill set: 1. can do graphic design - that's good 2. can fall into pools and get paid $200 for it - even better why don't you make mugger get a job and stop letting him freeload all the time? you do live in hollywood after all, can't he be in some commercials or something? he's cute.
Scott, that sucks man... So when are you opening the vegan restaurant? Oh wait, thats MY Dream Seriously, though, good luck.
Hey HMS, the no warning kinda blows bigtime! From the sounds of whatcha got going on I'd go with doing your own thing man! If you are cool with all the admin and paper shuffling and can manage to blag a couple of clients then solo is the way to go . . . no one else taking credit or reaping the rewards for your shit, no studio politics, working your own hours, low overheads . . . unpaid holidays kinda suck but as long as you can cover it with billable hours it's all good! We're busy but I don't think the 5,000 mile commute would be feasible! Good luck!
DAY TWO UPDATE: greetings from the local coffee/free internet shop. first i'd like to thank everyone for the words. second, after sitting here for 4 hours i have to take a wicked (no pun intended) piss. i've just received a cryptic message from some one at wicked to give them a call, so i'll be off to home to do that. hopefully it is something good. i've gotten a couple requests for portfolios so i am working on getting that together. also, yesterday while heading to the post office to pick up a few awesome packages i saw my latest one-sheet/bus shelter on the corner of hollywood way and barham: http://www.impawards.com/2007/posters/mr_woodcock.jpg or: http://www.impawards.com/2007/mr_woodcock.html it's definitely not my favorite thing i have ever done. but the client loved it so that at the end of the day is what really matters. well i'm off for home and the john. enjoy your day all and root for lavar tonight on last comic standing!
You seem to be in pretty good spirits. Good luck on your future interviews / cryptic message follow-up.
