God, everything they ship recently comes with ZERO padding and is totally messed up when it arrives. I waited forever for them to ship an LP to me, and it didn't come in a proper record mailer, but a large box (like 2 shoebox boxes big) where the record was cellophaned against a piece of cardboard twice its size. (i'm not sure who thought this would help, but the cellophane had come undone, and the record was banging around loose in the big box with no padding or wrapping or even evidence of bubble wrap. The corners are completely dented in, and it looks like it came out of a quarter bin. i hate them. i only bought it there because I had a gift card, and now i'm going to end up having to return it. skylar got some books recently that were totally banged up and torn too. what's the point of ordering if everything comes damaged?
yeah when i ordered the danzig - lost tracks cd it comes in a long book format, it came in a regular padded envelop and the shit was basically bent in half. i returned it for a new one, and todl them to ship it in a box, which they did and it arrived alive. they are probably cuttin corners for supersaver shipping, idk?
but they have to be losing a ton in returns! I even paid for shipping in hopes it might get a little more respect than the super saver. guess not.
was it from Amazon themselves or one of the private stores that sells through Amazon? My problems with Amazon have been them lying about having things in stock. I guess they think most books are re-stockable, so they don't tell you they're sold out. Some books have small print runs. They didn't tell me they couldn't get the book I had paid for with the belief that it was available until two months after X-Mas when I paid in beginning of Dec.
My last package from amazon got damaged because they didn't put anything inside for padding. It was sold from amazon and not from a dealer. I have a package sitting here right now and hopefully it'll be okay.
What's an LP? Seriously, though, I'll only order things like DVD's they'd have to go out of their way to wreck. I learned my lesson years ago when I ordered some film books, and they showed up looking pretty much like Skylar's - covers bent, pages mangled. It doesn't help that I'm totally anal about the condition of my books, either. Another bad thing is the prevalence of coffee shops in bookstores, which encorages people to read, crush, spill, etc and then put it back on the shelf. Like I'm going to pay for that now?
I priimarily order books & cds from them (directly) and never have problems. I always choose the saver shipping and find that 7 times out of 10 the package arrives really quick (the other times it arrives as expected - about 5-7 business days). My packages always seem to come wrapped to a piece of cardboard and then packaged in an appropriate sized box..
It's because just about anyone can become an Amazon seller and sell used LP's books & Dvd's. Can you leave seller feedback? Never used Amazon. Sorry to hear about your shitty deal Missy.
missy, sorry to hear, but I'm sure it didn't come directly from amazon right? If it was from a seller through amazon you can leave them feedback. On the plus side I just scored all 6 seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm directly from amazon for $121.44 shipped.
hmm...sorry to hear it we actually had a good experience with them in regards to my new slr being broken and getting a replacement. we were shocked that they sent out the replacement before getting the camera back. as for books though, i know exactly what you mean about the cellophane and the backing. i did get a banged up book a few months back for school.
nope it was directly from amazon. they suck. i got a bunch of cds (directly from them) last week and half the cases were cracked & broken. they have a lot of shit, but they treat it like its garbage.
Wow, that's bullshit. Sorry. While nothing I have ever ordered from amazon has been packed in a stellar manner, they at least include enough air pouches so the stuff arrives in pretty good shape. Tower Records on the other hand has sucked lately.
