after seeing the SDCC thread for a 2nd year running, please never complain ever again about collecting being 'hard' (i am talking currently, not 10+ years ago) just because you aren't in japan and 'miss out'.

think of all of us euro's/australians/new zealanders/etc trying to collect this shit. talk about depressing!

There's probably not a single 'collector' out there who can afford to visit every single convention listed on Datadub's elusive events list. Isn't this 'harsh' reality part of what keeps buying toys interesting ? I personally highly enjoy staring at everyone's SDCC purchases and seeing everyone's different take and individual approach.

I live in the states and am about 45 minutes from s7 and it's still pretty hard but I'm happy with the hunt. Even people in the states that attended sdcc still missed out on the usugrow.

I'm dreading the price of that blue bad oscar in the secondary market if one shows up.

Yeah not all of us in the states live on the west coast, nor do have the means/vacation time to attend the SDCC. So we might as well be in Australia, makes no difference- we can't go.

Ah, so that's why we in California wake up to find everything good at Mandarake and KT sold out. ;)

Japan is like 3, 4 hours by plane from where I live---but most of my toys are still bought stateside.

And not all of us on the West Coast live near S7. It's on-line or nothing for me. Occasionally the time-zone may be beneficial - but as Dean pointed out, I always miss the good stuff on Mandarake & KT (not that KT gets anything good anymore).

I hear that. I dont even check KT anymore.

but seriously SDCC is just one event in the long long list of vinyl related shows. maybe you pick up 5-10 exclusives once a year, but it is just that. 5-10 toys once a year. the rest of the time we are in your shoes, conqueror. waiting for online sales or praying munky king will get more than the bottom of the barrell JP releases. its a hard game but someone's gotta do it.

collin, be glad you saved your money. I show up on saturdays at super7 and it's impossible not to spend a $100. imagine if this store was only twenty minutes away.

Hah, I've thought the same thing about that one. On the other hand, he clearly gets some great stuff, judging by what he sells. Also, there's a board member who lives in Wales, yet seems to have one of the most awesome collections. Where there's a will, there's a way, budget permitting. :)

Well Alaska is nestled right between the West Coast and Japan, right? That's prime time-zone web-access!

Not to jack the thread but Alaskan Kaiju Dude is awesome! I've bought 5 pieces off that guy and he does get amazing stuff. Heard he was selling some stuff due to health problems (no insurance) which totally sucks. Damn this country for having such bad medical coverage/insurance bs! Anyhow back to thread in progress....
