Hey SkullBrainerds! Thanks for having me! Been a long time vinyl record collector, and have worked in the vinyl graphic/sticker/sign making business for the past ten years so I guess It's just a matter of time before vinyl toys came into my life. Even though I have just registered I have been browsing the board using the search feature here for the past few months and have found a great wealth of knowledge and eye candy. I feel I kinda am living vicariously through your collection shots as I do not have the best knowledge or time involved with kaiju be an iota near that level. Thanks!!!!!! Like a lot of y'all I generally am into collecting weird and interesting stuff that fits my personal aesthetic preferences as an artist. Strangely sculpted Japanese monsters painted with vibrant colors is a great source of inspiration. Really diggin the old-school toys and all the new stuff that purposely takes influence. I love the vocab of toys... calling them "chunky sculps" etc... Since a lot of y'all customize I also wanted to mention I can make you custom die-cut vinyl masks for painting/airbrushing or solid color decals in general with my vinyl plotter. Is this something customizer do? I know y'all mask off parts with tape when painting but not sure if you can easily do custom cut shaped masks? Also if you ever do toy shows or art shows I do cut vinyl lettering, graphics, and signs for cheap or possibly trade! I am also on that "instant-gram" thing the kids are using these days as goldenstash. I think I am definately following a few of you on here I noticed use the 'gram. Cheers! -GS P.S. My use of y'all is not to sound like a hillbilly but rather be non-gender specific.
welcome! so blond moustache or do you own something precious and if it's a toy can you unstash it for a quik look?
Or maybe you are of the wee leprechaun folk? Welcome to board! Take your time and browse the forums, a real wealth of knowledge and there isn't anyone on here who knows everything (despite how we come off!)
I really don't have much worth showin off yet. I have had a huge boner for Johnny Ryan for years and besides having a bunch of his books, comics, prints, I also got the recent Rottweiler Herpes put out by Monster Worship. johnnyr by Gee Ess, on Flickr I really haven't invested much into Kaiju yet. I bought a bunch of the Iwakura Bullmark mini candy toys and Bandai Bullmark minis recently. They don't get much love and are pretty cheap like $3-9 per toy with the chases being more. They make great drawing subjects! I really am diggin' the Smoguns as far as newer stuff goes. They are that weird mixture of ugly/cute that makes a toy charming for me. I got a mini and am waiting on the red one that is a size up in the mail. Really want to get a large one eventually. Obviously, all the Anraku, Bemon, Zollmen, etc... stuff is breathtaking at times but not quite ready to open up to that end of collecting. Give me two months. Once I get some more stuff worth photo'n and get a better display set-up I am sure I will share more. Thx for the welcomes!
I cant wait to introduce Chad to my wife at NYCC this year.. "Sheila, this is Chad/Lurker, he gave everyone on the forum herpes.."
