I do know it's from 2000, and Kaiju Taro has a pic of the same one on their site, and the description says MARMIT VINYL PARADISE Kurumaniclass. I have searched Club Tokyo, and other sites but can not find him. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks........
Ditto on that one. I was looking through Kaiju-Taro the other day and came across him. I would love to know more (and own him!) as well.
My son got him for me at a garage sale for cheap, and I've been banging my head & fingers for 2 days looking for info
I think it's name is Kuruma? It's from a Spectreman episode where a boy transmits his thoughts into the monster. Kuruma destroys cars because the boy had been in a hit and run accident. Alex Wald told me once that the show had a contest about who could design a kaiju for the episode. Very cool monster/piece. CCP (bear model) has also made several variations. I think the original is from Masudaya. I have the bear model figure but that marmit has a brilliant colorway. They are not too easy to find, if you see one you'd be best to snatch him up.
Cool - I've never seen that version of this guy before - but the lights across his head are suppose to be a traffic light. I think on the original, vintage version the traffic light is on his chest.
Thanks for the info on the background of the peice, here's what I found searching under Spectreman. 23.Auto accident monster : Korumanikolas (71.6.5) - Koruma, Balonsaurus (aka Balu) - [FS: Gori and Rah having a discussion] A little boy is taken to a hospital after being struck down by a hit and run driver. That little boy did fancy monsters a lot and while in coma, negative energy creates somehow a giant car monster that destroys all sport cars in the city. The situation is all the more critical since another giant monster called Balonsaurus appears in the city. *** (1/2) 24. Danger ! Karumanikulas (71.6.12) - Koruma, Balonsaurus - [FS: Koruma] Koruma and Balu fight in the city while the driver comes to apologize and is even struck down at his turn. Gori tries to control both monsters but unsuccessfully. Koruma finally kills Balonsaurus and then vanishes in the air, having avenged the little boy who eventually wakes up. *** (1/2)
I was mistaken about the location of the "traffic light" on the vintage figure - the tan CCP figure, above, looks like an exact repro of the original. Thanks for the photos!
whoa - I've never seen the clear version before. I was never crazy about this figure - it just didn't look right to me. But i'd love to pick up the clear one.
Just to clarify : Bear Model is not CCP. Bear Model never released a Kurumanikurasu. This Blue Mini Parababy was released as a two-pack with Baron Saurius. Jay : did you get a black paper scarf/banner with it ? Some came along with one, other didn't. I've got one without and was wondering if the text on it was similar to the regular & clear version. And if the new Elegab monster reaches production, it will be a killer shelf team-up with Kurumanikurasu indeed
Re: Correction on this. Spectraman kills Balonsaurus. He blasts a hole right through him which leads to an interesting "View the hero through the hole" camera shot if you know what I mean. Really funky episodes!
I'll have to re-watch the episode, (I have the collection on dvd) I didn't remember that part. Thanks Jay & Yuck for the pictures of 2 more I'll have to find
