After posting about it, my curiosity struck and I googled it to see if it was still in business. It's in a different location now, but the interiors and content seem to be the same. Glad to see they are still alive!
Dream Haven still with us, 2301 E 38th St, Minneapolis, MN 55406 Closes 6:30PM (612) 823-6161 They will always look for a special order for ya too. Last I saw, they had Buddy Christ way up on a display so the middle school kids couldn't swipe him.
I'm also glad to hear that Dream Haven is still open. I also used to visit Big Brain comics, as well as head out to Source Comics in Roseville. I lived in Saint Paul from 97-05.
Source is still there, dunno about Big Brain. Comic Book College of Knowledge is still strong and in their new store. Seems like 99% of the folks in the TC these days are fitness/foodie/branding consultants. It's lonesome at the bottom, I tell ya.
I am so jealous of you people in the twin cities. There is not much art related stuff in St. Cloud. It's just meth and party college bullshit.
Well, Dream Haven is still hanging on. Uncle Hugo's got burned to the ground during the riots, probably won't rebuild. At least we have better civil unrest than anywhere else except D. C. and Portland. JKP.
Back in the 80s I used to order stuff from DreamHaven, mostly gashapon Gundam mini-kits and SD keshi.
Mostly he sells old toys out of his collection and sticks to published stuff these days. He has also suffered a number of toy-reducing break-ins during and since the riots; tough run of luck for a great store and a decent guy. On the positive side, I think that more of us who drifted away have started coming back more since all of this.
Anybody want to sneak toys into the Como Conservatory for some surreptitious shooting? Warning; they're kind of tight about stuff.
Just turned 70 yesterday. I have walking pneumonia and some other medical stuff.... Just getting too tired. I will be lurking occasionally, but no longer actively checking in as often. Might have it in me for one or two more novelty photos, will see. Thanks everybody, it's been great! Steve
Thanks! And BTW Uncle Hugo's reopened about 3 weeks ago; over off Hiawatha just barely south of Lake Street.
