I kinda dig it. Not enough to buy it but I'd rather have one of these than say, just about anything by Cronic.
On man. Pants with suspenders would be GREAT. Add a basket for picking apples and itll be a must have.
i wonder how the eyeball is in there.. doesn't look painted. i'd like to see one in person, seems pretty neat that they're 3"
ouch. how did Cronic end up catching flak in this thread? oh well, less competition to get the pieces I need... on the apple...it's ok...but I don't know if I'd get one...but there are more dragon engines coming I hear...so don't think that the RM are just making apples now...
as much as I love the Chaos...it's not the first place where a single eye creature was used... ever hear of Homer's Odyssey? written almost a thousand years before Christ? had a monster in it featuring one eye...all props to Mori...but we can't credit him with the "one eye" idea...
bring ye haters. cronic makes some of the most inspired toys with the most intense hand painted applications know. period. homer could have created the one-eyed monster, but mori-san brought his one-eyed creature into reality w/ mutant chaos and made his niche with the doll-eye among the japanese vinyl society. a thing that happened years before a single doll-eyed apple was released. I can see both your points, and this eye did not make me think of chaos.
Theres got to be one cronic piece you kind of like. Mine personally was that the Funfetti GID dorogami. Right out of the box the thing was already glowing when it was in the shade, the glow on it seriously rocks. Any real monster would eat that apple guy in one bite, even if its eye shot lasers, it would be an easy dodge and then its all over.
I like it. Funky yokai vibe. Trying something different is good. I just hope these are priced at around the same level as the GTM toys. Although, I was totally hoping for a Rumble Monsters take on the Zagora.
I had posted the same image up yesterday, but removed it for that very reason...no need to compare Rumble Monsters to Sket...still, I think they could have emphasized the "monster" aspect of this toy a whole lot more...
Angry Apple, Goofy Grape, Chinese Cherry, Injun Orange, Lefty Lemon, Loud Mouth Lime, Rudy Tutti Fruitti, Freckle Face Strawberry, Rootin Tootin Raspberry and With It Watermelon
...and also the "rumble" aspect. Personal preference. A crabby one-eyed apple doesn't come across as much of a fighter or a kaiju. However, if RM wants to expand their vision thing and appeal to different niches, more power to 'em. I think these will find their fans. I think. The Dragon Engines didn't seem to catch fire though so who knows?
