The ones done look good so far.. I thought I should post this info included with info on the contest: (not to seem paranoid or anything) "Photos will NOT be published when they arrive. They will all be kept secret until ALL submissions have been received. We do not want the designs of other applicants to affect designs that are still in process." They don't say anything about enforcing this or disqualification or anything, so I'm sure this is fine... just in case though... What do you think Scapegoat? Is it safe to post up sneak peeks?
if you wanna post your own designs, that is all fine. We just won't publish them on the official site as we don't want to be blamed for people 'copying' each other's designs! All of these look really cool so far and would look great in anyone's collection! I'm looking forward to seeing what our Japanese f(r)iends are going to present as well!
How long does it take for you guys to do one? If I add up all the hours I spent prepping and painting, it will probably add up to about 10-12 hours. If I add up the time spent planning out the colors, probably another 8 hours and on top of it all, time spent thinking of the initial design (which changes as you paint) is probably 1 day and a half. All in all, it took me about 2.5 to 3 days to do this. Kinda short in my opinion.
My main problem is finding the time to sit down and do it. I've got way to much going on right now. That and not having a proper permanent work area. I have to set up and take down my makeshift spray booth etc. The last big thing holding me back, is finding out how bad for you v-color can be. I use a proper mask, but I have 5 chinchillas I don't want to kill. It's also -30 C here right now, so I can't really crack a window. I haven't spent as much time as you did actually working on it... who knows how much time I've spent thinking up the design though.
Save the chinchillas!! I don't have a real workspace either but the one thing that saves me...I don't use v-color or an airbrush...2, 2 things that save me (sounds a little like Monty Pythons' Spanish Inquisition skit).
just out of curiosity i want to know how "safe" something like this really is...does anyone have experience? http://www.kaiju-taro.com/index.php?ac= ... =&type=grp can you actually work in a room in your house and run the vent pipe out the window without driving off your pets, kids, wife, husband, etc with fumes?!
i ain't no expert, but i've smelled vcolor.... IMO, if you don't have room outside your living space to paint, i wouldn't even consider using v-color. maybe someone could suggest otherwise.
Here is a detail of one of mine. I wanted to make him look like he was constructed of sandstone, long, long ago.
has anyone read the directions? i don't get it... they want "two photos directly behind the figure" why do they need two photos? so in total, are we supposed to send 3 photos or 2? edit nevermind... read the other bbs and supposed to be 2 photos total
Yeah, I'm an idiot. When I translated all that stuff I was in a rush and I typed it incorrectly. Sorry for the confusion.... you just need one from the front, one from the back. ...also, that sandstone one looks wicked as hell. I would love to have one like that!! What kind of material was used for that look?
I was hoping at least 10 people submitted... so my expectations have been surpassed y a long shot! I was getting worried at first as a lot of people I expected to submit decided not to do so (or forgot!).
As for the photo deadline, it says the 31st. Anytime the 31st? North American 31st, or Japan 31st? I've got my fingers crossed for midnight CST! I'm cutting this one close! Thanks!
