You are correct, sir. I only stumbled upon it cause in the Patchi thread I mentioned spotting Bechigons amongst the pics of toys across tables, and he mentioned PMing him. Later that afternoon, he tells me he has a green left, and there were 4 greens and 4 blues made. I was wanting the blue, so I held off, til he told me he was wrong - the left over was blue so I had him pack it in with my emperor. I'm really looking forward to what kinda egg Bechigon is.. what hatches from it?! Maybe later this winter?
Thanks everyone! Glad they made it and really glad you guys are digging them! Sorry about the Patchi-Summit releases, there were only a couple made in each color for the show, and I brought just a handful home with me. I'll take some better pictures of mine tomorrow or over the weekend and put them up here! If you like the paint apps on those, there's another coming up in the same vein in the next few months. Here are a couple of other shots of the Emperor if you aren't on the mailing list! In other news, it looks like the gestation period for Bechigon may be over sometime in the spring...
The paint used for the red up top is pretty unique - it's kind of tacky/sticky. And, of all the things I've ever cut out of the bag - this definitely has it's own, strong paint-can smell I also realized that Elegab isn't the only one using hardcore bigboy staples - Ricky does too! Here's some shots I took last night:
Hehe... the stink is from the V Color. I was a bit bummed the red didn't dry better... I don't like V Colors clear red very well, but Tamiya's is awesome for blood. Left those guys sit out for a couple of days before I bagged them up, but the red was still a little tacky. Sorry about that! Those GID pictures are sick!
Haven't had a chance to open mine yet. Does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap (but effective) clear flying stand/base for these? I forget, but I seem to recall an earlier pic depicting these eggs as floating and I think the effect would be killer! Ricky, if a simple/cheap idea comes up, maybe you can pack bases in with these from now on! Just a thought.
Hurry up - open that shit + huff that bag, yo! I'm not so sure about a stand/base. To be honest, the plug that fills the opening at the bottom is fairly thick, and it really appears as if it's already slighly lifted of the ground. I snapped the pics with them sat upon black towels so that the plug wouldn't glow so brightly and stand out in the pics.
these bechigons are fucking awesome...!!! got mine in the mail yesterday...!!! thanks again ricky...!!
Lamour did a KILLER job on the headers. I love them, too! I agree that the plugs are a bit thick, but that was the absolute thinnest we could make them. I wanted to keep the "body" in one piece to avoid seams and figured since they'd probably be displayed a little below eye-level the plug wouldn't be so noticeable (well, at least less noticeable than cutting the little guy in half!). If you'd like to display your Bechigon a little lower, a minute with a hairdryer will make the plug really easy to pop out! Sanjeev, not quite sure which stands you mean... are you referring to the clear plexi ones from the Super Fest and Patchi summit shots? Those are customized mini-display cases (probably intended for baseballs) with squares of neon plexi resting on top. I'm working on a very interesting display for an event next month, but it probably won't be for sale
Ah, that header's amazing! I'm in the process of moving, so all my mail's going to my old place. I'll have to go pick up my egg this weekend. Haha...nah, I meant that if anyone has any cool ideas for flying bases that happen to be cheap and easy-to-order in bulk, it'd be hot to include one with the toy. I figure people on this board have solutions for displaying flying kaiju, rather than having poor ol' Mothra plopped at the feet of Godzilla instead of majestically soaring over him. We're all geeks, so I'll bet some people are into other hobbies like table-top wargaming or something that involves flying stands. Ideas anyone?
Hm, I really thought you were referring to the clear plastic stands I saw those red-vinyl-torsos-w/dollheads displayed on at the show. I guess not?
Haha, sorry man but I've gotta take credit for that one. Those were displayed not at the show, but on my book shelf! They just had them floppin' around on the table at the show! I just used a cheap Medicom 1/6 scale figure stand I had lying around. Bechigon is kind of a funny shape, so those won't work for him. I'll definitely think about this one!!!
i swear i'll buy one soon, even if i have to wait till i'm back in japan to get one. fucking australian dollar.
DOOD!! Okay, so I finally made the trek to my old home to pick this guy up. Fucking amazing!! At first, I was surprised at the size--I'd simply assumed it was going to be larger. That sentiment passed in about 1 second, flat. I think the size you chose is absolutely perfect. The precise paint apps and the cute in-the-palm-of-your-hand size make this lil bugger damn sweet. Even my girlfriend thought it kicked ass as soon as I pulled it out of the box...and she had no prior information about what it was! While she generally digs my kaiju vinyls, she doesn't really like the more "apocalyptic" ones (read: Blobpus). But this one, she liked...very impressive. Anyway, the other thing I noticed pretty quickly--besides the vinyl and paint app quality--was the glow power. This sucker is BRIGHT...and those with a lot of glow vinyl are well aware that there are definitely some that are brighter than others. Bechigon is in that category. I was duly impressed! Great work, Ricky! Look forward to more!
Agreed, even my blue painted one (which has a really interesting color app), glows really hardcore through it's colored finish.
Same here, finally made it home and opened these guys up. Super awesome, I feel like taking some pics tonight. These guys are fresh! Literally fresh, the red blood on top of my emperor bech hadnt dried yet, it was still sticky when I pulled him out of the bag. Good stuff Velocitron!
