I never understand why he writes SAMPLE in English. It never made sense to me. Does anyone know? And that polka dot bemon is terrible.
even the name "Bemon" is not Japanese .... easy to search for it in YJA ...and that polka dot bemon is... one of my preferred! I love his sweet hidden danger ...reminds me of the clown "it" with his balloons. or...
I pretty much agree, was watching this on YJA a few days ago but missed the final run. I wasn't initially too convinced but then it slowly grew on me and I finished up seriously thinking of trying to score it. Love the green vinyl (I've been trying to assemble an unpainted green - same colour - for quite a while now); and love the paint job that makes this kougai pretty unique. Congratulations to whoever scored!
My favorite thing about Bemon is his artwork. I love the header work and would just collect those if I could. Does he ever sell his artwork?
With the variety of Bemons out there this one just doesn't do anything for me. The two above I enjoy drooling over as much as I did the first time I saw the pics.
I think the polka dot bemon is rad! However, being a fan of polka dots in general, I would love to see a more uniformed pattern of polka dots on a bemon.
What can I say except state the obvious: these kougai you guys just posted (black poka dots and the ashura one) are just fucking awesome. I think time has come to make some space on those shelves and add a few more kougai to the family
Not trying to deviate the topic, but why don't we just have a regular Bemon thread going in Japanese Toys? Half of this thread is just that. A lot of these pics aren't anyone here's pics of their Bemons. Same with the Anraku thread, a whole chunk is just "look what popped up on YJA or Mandarake!" Anyway, that spotted Bemon, meh, not for me. But it's a cool idea.
I agree and have often wondered why Bemon doesn't have a dedicated thread in the Japanese toys section. As soon as I get back home and can start accessing Skullbrain from a computer again I might as well just start one off (although gathering together pictures of all releases is a daunting task to say the least and I can't even think of starting). Does any OG member have a pic of the first kougai to hit CKA (or wherever Bemon was first launched)?
^^ I think it won't be too bad...just time consuming. I think Tim (Plover) used to have a lot of the old photos otherwise a lot are on the board. I'll dig around and see if I send you some.
I still have a lot of images saved and can donate what I have. I think LIxx has all the posters scanned.
Funny I still don't own a Bemon though right? OK I'm pretty positive I posted these before but I'm suffering from a raging cold and can't be bothered searching even though I should (I know bad example): HP #1: HP #2: HP #3: GID: Test: Some other poster that was in there: Everyone go find your bemon or your favorite. Mine will always be that GID with the purple chest (in the first GID poster) 2nd from left on top row:
^ ^ ^ I've actually just swapped arms on this fella here: he's now glitter body, black head, glitter right hand arm (different color from the body) and motherpearl left. I'll post shots as soon as I managed to take some. Edit: Thanks for posting the HP posters again Lixx, I need to gather together all the Bemon folders I've left around
So one thing I'm confused about, is this a one off or an FP (10/10 - 20/20?)? I'm just asking because it looks like this release has a poster in the bag too and I'm still confused as I'm not sure to what series this one belongs to (if a HP he seems to belong to a newer series)...
tell me about it! the green polka dot is 1/1. its from the 6th hp series that was released sometime last year. although sadly, none made it for public sale. the first 5 series, including the 1st gid run of bemons were all one-off hp. there were 30 of them in each series. after the one-off series came all the 10/10 or 20/20 fp series for several years until that 6th hp series pop out from nowhere last year. therefore including the run of 20 one-off in the 'GID Sample' series, there are 200 one-offs that are officially catalouged in the posters. apart from these these, there are also store displays, insider gifts that are one-off hp, although very few of them. hence there are not too few cool hp bemon out there!
Thanks for this, much obliged: for some reason I was convinced that the GID run was one of the first (if not THE first hp run). And I never realized that those HP runs last year were one offs (I thought they were limited edition hps, 10/10 et cetera).
