Hello. I have recently captured and fallen in love with Blobpus Beripus. Very interested/curious to know how many version of this little dude have been released. Any help? Nips? Sumatra? Joe? Hollers. Blobpus Smoking Star LB Beripus by Fiends Ain't Family, on Flickr Dogbat. #blobpus by jhateball, on Flickr Also: I haven't taken a photo yet, but I've noticed a strange feature on the back. It SEEMS like if you turn him upside down and look at the back, there's a sort of 'face' with a crown-type-thing on it. Wondering if there's anything to that, or if I'm just seeing things. As always, any response is appreciated. And if you're sitting on a mountain of these dudes...well. I am here. Smiling at you. Thanks. (Thanks to Joe for the rad pic of the SS/LB version)
I dug up a photo of that one in an old Smoking Stars thread...seems like that was the painted version that was released with a set of a bunch of other collaborative toys...I have the little 'single-stem' Kanegon-looking dude from that set as wel. But there can't only be 3 releases of this dude...can there? He shows up in searches as early as 2008... Thanks for the pic...much better than the one I found.
He was released initially with the two Gatchamon sets, which featured mini sculpts from various companies. Set 1 should have had a clear glitter red, clear red and painted version of Berippus. Set 2 should have had a dark blue, brown, bright green and painted 2nd version of Berippus. After that, it seems like each manufacturer was given a clear glitter version of their Gatchmon sculpt to distribute at their discretion. Blobpus included the Berippus as an extra with one of the Last Kaiju releases. The one pictured above uses the same clear glitter vinyl and I believe was released as part of a Halloween set, although I don't recall the specifics.
Wow. Fantastic intel...thank you. Is that why these dudes seem so scarce...since they were basically co-labelled with Blobpus and the different companies that participated in that Gatchimon series?
love seeing this kind of thing happen on the board.....!!! way to hook a brother up there Kirkland meanmistert might have some input here.. I know he was hot on their heels some time ago.. I think bansheebot just sold a few here recently as well if I'm not badly mistaken..? I never started collecting these little guys but I think they're pretty cool..
Kirkle is indeed the original toy person. He my. I'm still totally curious about the back of these guys...I guess I'll need to take a photo to show what I'm talking about...there's totally an upside down face on the back of the upper...and when you rotate the bottom half 180deg, it give this impression of a horned crown on top of a head. Maybe I been reading too much spook, but well, that's what I'm seeing.
Backside. No way that's just an accidental thing, right? The forelegs are the horns on the 'crown'. Smacked. Flipped. Rubbing Down to Come. #blobPus by jhateball, on Flickr
Here's my crew... some of which have been slightly modified Way underrated as I think there is a lot of character in this little sculpt. The 1st ones could regularly be found on ebay, ca. 2007, but I never took advantage. Good Luck in your hunt!
How have you been T? I haven't seen you around much lately but I may just be missing your posts. Nice little group of these guys. They look awesome but I can't start collecting a new figure if I value my life.
