My gf and I are hitting up boston in a month, just wondering if anyone has some good suggestions where to go, or what do. Mainly art related? thanks guys Mike
There is a lot to do here. For museums, if I were a tourist, I would check out ICA Boston http://www.icaboston.org/ Museum of Fine Arts http://www.mfa.org/ (there is a Japanese tattoo print exhibit right now that is incredible) Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum http://www.gardnermuseum.org/ (this is about a block from the MFA, and is a great museum. Also the spot where there was a huge art heist years ago, the pieces they stole still have placeholders on the walls) For shows/live music, there are a lot of options based on what kind of music you like. General list would be the Middle East in Cambridge, TT the Bear's in Cambridge, Great Scott in Allston, O'Brien's in Allston, House of Blues if you like bigger bands, and there are a lot more. For galleries, there are a lot of places but for me personally I don't care for a lot of it. If you like Juxtapoz type stuff, you might be out of luck. Bodega is a good stop just to see how impressive the store is, and they have a gallery on Brookline Ave that showcases some good stuff. They make posts on Facebook about upcoming exhibits. This is a short list and is by no means inclusive of all of the stuff you can do here. I can try and help with restaurants too if you need that. Let me know if you need any help with planning or have any questions.
That place blew my mind the first time I went. Went on a BMX road trip to Boston and our guide told us we should check this cool store out... I was like I think this is the wrong spot man. Never heard of it before that.
It's definitely unique. I bring everyone that comes to town there to watch their reactions when they walk in.
Newbury street is a great place to walk along, its kinda like Greenwich Village in N.Y. There is a really good hostel I stay at very close by called the Hemenway Street Hostel. On the other end of Newbury towards the park is a really good cafe, its a good walk to little Italy but its worth it to go to Paul Reveres house, the vibe is incredible allot of history. Have a great trip!
Thanks guys for all the great input. We are leaving after work tm at 3. Cant wait to get away. Ill let you all know what we do. Bodega and newbury street area must.
