can anyone tell the difference between the two figures? I have scene both colors with this difference. The paint lines show the strangeness was from the compan.
This had me fooled for a while also...the only difference is that the head has been rotated 180 degrees. I think the blue one is upside down. Some were put on upside down at the factory and others have been rotated over time. You can usually match the paint to see which way it was originally.
I agree. I think the blue one is upside down compared to picts from the actual movie. I think that is what the guy at the shop was telling me. THe paint lines line up so it was painted this way. i have scene both variation with the head in both orientations. Odd that they would make a consistent mistake at the factory. I have tried to turn the head, but it is not easy with the position of the claws and the mold shape.
Here's a couple of pics of yet another Ganime I picked up recently, just to add to the photo tally: Richard
Hehe, the real Ebirah is the same, I have seen it with the antennae pointed forwards or backwards. Same way to tell, the paint lines up so its easy to tell which way it was painted. Pretty funny.
These are killer! I don't really delve into the Godzilla stuff much, so I hadn't run across this sculpt yet. I love the texture on this guy and the sloppy paint apps...
Ganime creeps me out, in a bad way. I am all about sea monsters, but the thought of a giant crustacean just unnerves me for some reason. The newer Marusan version is pretty rad, albeit a lot different from these two sculpts.
Down here we call em' Yabby's. Comes from the Aboriginal word Yabij http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yabbie I like the chunky style to these guys. Interesting, I was wondering how much the head turns.
