I am still contemplating this. It is cool that Sunguts is actually coming, and Koji, and I am kind of keen on seeing what Creature Bazaar might bring, but looking at the general vendor list, I am honestly not seeing loads up my alley. A lot of western 'toys', and frankly my fear is that it might turn out to be more strong contenders from the fugly thread. Of course, if 'brainers are coming out for a show, that changes things. It's not too much for me to pop over to Hammersmith (as I am fortunate in this instance) and the entry is not so much. Still, though.
3-4 packages have arrived without incident. Brexit shouldn't make any difference to non EU purchases . . . business as usual.
I had a package turn up from Buyee last week no problem, but Astro Zombies messaged me this morning saying the driver refused to take the two new skull wings they released this weekend as they say they do not have the relevant CE code!
Confused as to why it would it make any difference if the product meets EU standards . . . especially now we are no longer part of the EU? I can't recall any Japanese or US product EVER carrying a CE code! 2021 SSDD!
Now were out of Europe the CE code is going to change to UKCA. Maybe the newer code is needed for some reason? I thought the code was for selling not buying though ... I've never heard of this happening before. What driver was it?
All I have had thus far is two EU retailers get grumpy about being asked to send something to the U.K. First one refused unless I spent €155, which meant the responsibility for charging VAT moved from them to the U.K. HMRC. The second said he was unwilling to send items to the U.K. unless I paid 20% more for the item. Both seemed to be of the opinion that I single handedly made Brexit happen and therefore insulted their nation, way of life and their Sainted Mothers. Packages from Japan are arriving without issue, as are things sent from the USA.
No issues with stuff coming from Japan (other than the normal customs and extra 'handling fee' with the occasional Royal Mail parcel delivery. Stuff from EU is definitely an issue though. A lot of sites won't even ship here, which has been the majority of my experience, until they can figure out how to handle it (or flat out refusing to), but most others seem to be a crapshoot of either saying you will be charged the 20% up front when it gets delivered or a roulette of whether your parcel happens to be flagged for the extra taxes. CE mark does not apply to plastic dollies, sorry. That would have made me both laugh but also livid. Just hand over my gosh darn toys, dammit, and getoffamylawn! PS - Lemons aside, I can think of very few reasons why any of our Euro counterpart might desire to order something from the UK, but in the event of such a possibility, more than happy to make efforts to assist where I can.
Believe it or not, I cannot find Whole Earth peanut butter in Paris so I can be interested... Just kidding
The Sour shipping service is as good as it's always been. Packages to France, Germany and Sweden went without a hitch. Curious to see how long they take to reach Hawaii though!
