Just revisited Two-Lane Blacktop which I believe is the greatest car movie of all time. any suggestions on car movies? my favs Bullett original Gone in 60 seconds Cannonball Deathrace 2000 Vanishing Point
can you imagine how boring that would be? A Prius and a fucking Ecar racing to DC.... It might be pretty funny if you were to cast Ferrell and Mcbride
no, that's not what i meant at all. it was just my way of saying how bad ass that poster looks! i suppose my wording is a little retarded... i've actually never seen beyond thunderdome. but yes, the other 2 totally rule!
C'etait un Rendezvous The whole thing (9 mins) is actually posted online here. Here's some of the story behind it. *A few corrections discovered later on: Lelouch was driving his own Mercedes and the Ferrari 275 GTB sound was dubbed later.
Wow...someone actually mentioned Le Mans (thanks Lalo). I really like that movie. "A lot of people go through life doing things badly. Racing’s important to men who do it well. When you’re racing, it... it’s life. Anything that happens before or after... is just waiting." Here is another racing movie that I like: BMW had some shorts a few years ago. Those were pretty entertaining.
"call it a yard and you've got an automobile race motherfucker!" TLB is the best car movie ever for sure. There are plenty of good other car movies but none of them really feature the car like in two lane. Oh and Warren Oates/GTO is hysterical and makes up for the lifeless performances by James Taylor and Dennis Wilson (which I think actually kind of works anyway).
it's a great movie, but to tell you the truth, if mcqueen wasn't a part of it i probably wouldnt of seen/heard of it. dude was so cool.
this was the exact movie that popped into my head when I opened the thread. bad acting for the most part, but the car chases and scenery really can't be beat.
Same here - I was going to suggest the same movie. I thought that the movie was pretty underrated. Transporter (with Jason Stratham) had some good car chases, if I recall correctly (although the movie itself sucked). But then again, maybe I'm just thinking of a BMW promo that was released just prior to the movie that featured some (if not all or more) of the car chases. I think I still have that DVD somewhere. Although Mad Max 3 was terrible (although I must admit I like that Tina Turner song in the flick), it gave me one of my favorite names: MASTER BLASTER!! Remember, "Master Blaster rules Bartertown."
I think Ronin is one of the best action movies in the last 25 years, hands down. The car chases are just sick!
If I remember right they filmed those scenes with Formula 1 drivers doing all the chase sequences. Also Jackie Chan's Thunderbolt is a pretty good car flick too, if you like Mitsubishi and drifting.
They did use a Formula One driver for some of the stunt driving (Jean-Pierre Jarier), but the actor who played Larry (Skipp Sudduth) insisted on doing all of his own driving. Since Sudduth is a stunt driver and amateur auto racer, John Frankenheimer let him, telling him "I don't wanna see any brake lights."
Jackie Chan movies make me cringe. Seeing an FTO and an Evo being squeezed into tight alleys and having the walls remove the paint from the body...aargh (mainly cause I've always wanted an Evo). BMW shorts with Clive Owen as The Hire. Here's one of the funnier ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK87YLmagt4
