I'm really excited to hear that The Jesus and Mary Chain will be there. This year's lineup is great. I can't wait to go.
the lineup is so badass ... as it is every year. i should try to go someday, but it is so damn far in the middle of nowhere
You should go. It's well worth it. I'll be there all 3 days. I wish Smashing Pumpkins would have been added to the lineup, but oh well.
I just want to go Sunday. Do I have to buy tickets for all three nights? If I don't get tickets when they go on sale, is this a hard ticket to score?
there is a rumor the Smashing Pumpkins and The Police are performing. I think the presale word is "Roxanne"
Tickets aren't hard to score at all. But don't wait 'till last minute. I remember 3 years ago I waited last minute and they sold out. I had a hard time finding tickets for the day that Radiohead played. Single day passes are available, but I think you get a small discount if you purchase the 3 day pass.
Good God, I wish I could go to this... Does Cornelius have a new album out? If he's playing anywhere in a 150-mile radius, I'm goin'....
Jarvis Cocker, Gogol Bordello, The Good The Bad And The Queen, LCD Soundsystem, Regina Spektor, Hot Chip, MSTRKRFT, Peter Bjorn and John, Fratellis, Air, CSS... you bastards
I have attended every year, including the first year where it was pure pleasure to walk up to uncrwoded stages and see the likes of SuperFurry Animals midday and be able to sit in the sun and still see the stage right there. After years of Euro fest, this can't be beat! Not into the headliners, luckilly, but Arctic Monkeys, Jarvis, Sonic Youth, We are scientists, Silversun Pickups, Arcade Fire, Travis, Kings of Leon, LCD, Blonde Readhead, PB and J, Fratellis, Cribs, Pop Levi, Air, Kaiser CHiefs, Placebo, Soulwax, Lily Allen, Kooks, CSS, Klaxons, Tapes n Tapes, Teddy Bears and Lupe are all calling my name. Not an amazing line-up, but still pretty damn good for 3 days of fun and temps.
does willie nelson seem out of place? He's awesome but i just don't think coachella when I think willie. rage is pretty bad ass too
Interesting. As with most of these festivals, a lot of it is stuff I'm not much interested in, but this seems to have a higher percentage of interesting artists (scattered among the nuevo-hipster acts) than many similar fests. For me, the downside is that I've seen most of the groups I'm interested in in small venues in the past, so it might not be as exciting watching them struggle with the "fill the massive stage" problem. JAMC and Happy Mondays might be good if they can hold it together long enough to get through a set, and Sonic Youth, New Pornographers, and Tilly and the Wall are always fun. I'd also be interested in seeing Peeping Tom, Silversun Pickups, Sparklehorse, and Jarvis Cocker (none of whom I've seen yet). Good to see Willie Nelson and Roky Erickson in there, but as far as I can tell jazz doesn't fall under the heading of "music and arts", which is a shame. Oh yeah - and Sonic Youth billed lower than Interpol and the Arctic Monkeys? What the fuck is up with that?
