budget? plaza or el cortez suites $ = circa $$$ = the english do not stay on the strip, unless you want a 'vegas' trip - it is not very convenient to the arts district (which the show to me, isnt IN but it is near) generally speaking
oh and if anyone would like i am going to knock out a list of good eats and such for people i can come back and post it here too - there are some gems - especially if youve never explored off strip or been here recently - the last ten years has been boom boom boom amd we have a lot of great little spots
Anyone know if Creature Bazaar is doing a creature vision Thurs night before DCon in Vegas? I really enjoyed the ones I went to when it was in SoCal. Looking at flights and deciding if I should come out Thu or Fri.
I hope so - I never get to go to those because I avoid driving around socal as much as I can after driving in and unloading the van - the Beverly would probably happily host it but they program pretty far out. Great venue (new build though, if they want a classic venue they'll need to wait for the Huntridge to come back to life, and that will be awhile and is also quite large)
Take your chances with the Marugacha! We've been doing "golden ticket" giveaways of unique standard-size figures.
here's some food recs: highlights: main st provisions, cin-cin, soul belly, good pie, district deli, 1228, cornish pasty, casa de lucy also mostly every brewery and bar is great, silver stamp and rebar standout, and velveteen rabbit or liquid diet for seriously artsy cocktails the area with all this is like a mile south from dcon down las vegas blvd, then west on charleston then main street off charleston has most of this
Yes- main st has good veggie dishes, cin-cin does too (they have a cabbage thing that’s awesome) Or there’s a Cheesecake Factory right across from the show if you like chains, that menu is always packed but I like our little spots
I lied. DCON was great this year, Vegas not so much. Had my best moments off the strip. Yunan Tasty Garden is mind blowingly spicy and amazing. Chinatown in general is such a gem in Vegas. Also my kid had a blast walking around Red Rock Canyon. Will definitely plan on staying off strip if DCON is in the cards for me next year.
Pasadena > Vegas >>>>>>>>>>>>> Anaheim I was pleasantly surprised by the World Market Center and how wide the aisles were and how lax the weekend was. That’s not to say there wasn’t insanity at certain booths; Medicom was crazy and the Headlock Studio lotto was a joke, etc. but no event ends without its shortcomings. Overall I think those that missed out, intentionally or not, will have some regret, and I’m lookin’ forward to next year.
