    oh whatever, they're good

if you stop and give them a real listen and get over the "nu-metal" tag that they have seem to someone gotten...

To me Deftones were never ‘Nu Metal’, the term only started with Limp Bizlit. Stupid Fred Durst, He was the one who is tagging along with the Korn & Deftones. That is how these 2 bands got associated.

The Passenger off their White Pony album was the greatest song even, a duet with Maynard of Tool, What could go wrong ?

White Pony - good call, total art-rock, I should unearth my copy. Checked em out live - enjoyed it, apart form when they got some high-as-a-kite Vince Neil look-alike screamy chick on stage with them - who screamed along for what seemed like ages. Apart from that, great show.

I've always dug them since the beginning. White Pony is definitely their best efforts though.

I actually think that self titled album after White Pony is their best.

it sounds like metal meets My Bloody Valentine or something

    Suck!

Deftones use to be a booty shakin' funk band.

    then they were reggae.

Then they got lucky with rap rock...

On what release were they reggae?Or funk?I only remember chino rappin' on one song.I think your confusing them w/ Incubust, who have the same progression as you described.

Deftones are one of the best bands to come out of cali ever, all time, their last album was a little weak, but around the fur, adrenaline, and whitepony were three straight dope albums.

well...they used to be good. dont know what happened as of late

but i think the deftones are great.
the lead singer gets fat(when he is sober) then gets real skinny when he is back on drugs then gets fat again when sober, etc

That must be tough on the system, but does it qualify as special powers - like Shrinko-expando-man or something? Maybe he'll be on that new superhero show?

Skylar, MBV - awesome...AWESOME ... back in the day, blah, saw em ..blah so many times... True story: I bought Kevin Shields +1 for the first SUgar show in London AND I bought him a pint! He was skint after recording Loveless and bankrupting Creation. Sugar were LOUD that night, but great. MBV started always doing that huge noise segment from..errr... something off Isn't Anyhting, and IO always wished they'd use the 15 minutes of noise to do a couple of other songs....
