Entombed or Massacre haven't done anything good since the early 90's tops, Monstrosity had one great 7", and I don't like Vital Remains. Out of the list I would be curious to see Repulsion, but not enough to turn me away from Dehara and the opportunity to knock over little kids to buy something that says "I love pussy" on it.

    Napalm Death on Sunday though!

Well the breakdown goes like this - Kids were pushed, knees were skinned, anarchy reigned supreme, unorganized staff with no sense of order were yelled at (mostly by the angry dude behind me), asshole teenagers and pushy Moms/flippers? cut in line (which prompted the yelling), but most importantly - fun was had by all!

Slack came down from San Jose with his lovely wife and daughter and visited our fair city. Carl, Scott, Pete and his ladyfriend, Ian, Matt with his ladyfriend and her friend, and I joined them for a day at GR2. Together, along with the crazed Ugly Doll fans (and some were seriously crazed) we paid GR2s rent for this month and had a blast.

To start the day, Scott and I went by GR1 where we found a stash of hidden Real Head minis mismarked for $15 each, so we bought them all. Look for those in the BST soon.

Next we went to GR2 and met up with the Slack family and Carl. We hung out for awhile waiting for the show to open, gathering more skullbrainers along the way, and then 6:30 hit! The show was awesome with tons of great Dehara figures and Ugly goods. Dehara himself(!) was there along with the very nice Mr. Horvath, and they were on hand to take pictures, sign, sketch and kiss babies.

Afterwards Scott and I walked over to Daichan Sushi and tried to break the record for most sushi eaten, but we each fell about 27 plates short. No shit, some dude ate 34 plates of sushi in one sitting. What is even crazier was the next closest was 33 plates, but that guy did it in 20 minutes not 2 hours!

I'm sure Carl will post some of his great pictures in the next day or two, but it was super, super fun and awesome to see everyone. Thanks to Slack and co for visiting and Horvath, Dehara and GR for a good time!

By the way, if you got this far into my story, I should let you off the hook and tell you there weren't actually any Real Head minis at GR1. Just seeing if you were paying attention. :D

Real funny! What made that believable for just a moment is it sounds like something one of the GR staff would actually do. Sorry I missed the festivities it was my night to fix dinner. I tried talking everyone into sushi on Sawtelle. Didn't work!
Thanks for the report. Sounds like a fun evening.

Chrome Death Phantom has been in my sig line for weeks - and now someone starts noticing it

CDP are a Jp Vinyl influenced band. How can they be influenced by Jp vinyl? Well, they are collectors, and their songs are inspired by certain pieces of vinyl. For instance they have an ambient shoegaze number originally inspruired by the rainy day bee, and it's called (u guessed it) Rainy Days. Anraku's Goga inspired a huge bottom-end stoner riff monster song called "Stoned in Goga". Not all teh songs are so obviously titled, but they rehearse with the toys their to inspire and inform.

I guess the really big question is: where did they get their name from?

A myspace page will likely be forthcoming. They've been working on teh songs primarilly - but maybe the toy connection will garner them some friends here?
