believe it! Tix are $35 and you can get it on pre-pre sale NOW if you use the code MASTOKLOK. Got mine
I've caught all of these guys outside of High on Fire - knowing them the whole experience will be pretty brutal and well worth the $35
So when Deathlok plays- I've only seen the animated band. Who are they live, the actors? other musicians?
Brendon Small, the co-creator/writer and voice actor for half the characters, also writes and performs all of their stuff except the drums for the show. Live, it's him on guiter/vocals, the usual drummer, than he gets a crew of other (usually metal-pros) other guys to fill in the rest. They play wearing all black with no light on them, instead they have a screen above of Dethklok that's synched to the music, like a crazy live music video. It's different from the Gorillaz in that you still SEE the band, than between songs there's skits and crap, pretty fun! Plus they're SO tight, they never lose synch with the animation, really cool set up. I'm hoping to go to a show near me just for Dethklok really.
yeah i've seen dethklok live and BD is right, its really well done! i was impressed with the sync of the live music and the visuals, especially with such fast-paced songs
when I saw them last year I had seen maybe one episode of the show and was expecting something ala Gorillas - where the band members would perform behind a screen showing their animated selves. How wrong was I! When I say "molar rattling" that is hardly even touching on how loud and brutal it was. "Go forth and die" was the best song...damn, good stuff. This show is one NOT to miss - just do yourself a favor and join the rest of the 'brainers at the show! We should have a meet and greet before the brutality
I was lucky enough to see them for free in Atlanta, which I think was actually the Adult Swim Office X-Mas party for employees since when we rolled in the place was half full of Adult Swim employees who look like they've just had the most awesome office X-Mas party ever with special badges and all. It's a pretty great show. It's sad, to me, that a fake cartoon metal band is better than 80% of the REAL metal bands coming out. But hey, it's something.
a freebie would be awesome for this show. it's almost $40 here...i'm not a cheapskate, but mastodon was like $20 when they came through a couple of months ago. that being said, it is dethklok too and i want to go
