Darkside. It's been mentioned perviously with the link to starwars but what's the story behind the company. I've seen the radd and bozz figures recently and they've piqued my interest.
Darkside Hero Toys makes some really nice figures, I've got a few and just picked-up the black proto Garblin & Bozz set. Their site hasn't worked properly for a while, but when the "Item List" works it has a lot of their line. Yup.
Have the Garblin and bozz only been made in black? I seem to remember a green garblin but it could have been a test shot. Also are these about gargamel fight figure size? Thanks for help
I got into DxSxHx by their Stag Beetle suits. Some of them even came on Obitsu bodies (and some even had custom 'tattooed' bodies). I think I have all of them, or at least all of the ones I want -- 8 or 9 of 'em. I have the black Radd with fetter (thanks to a board member) and the all clear Radd with alternate fist hand attachment. I'd like to pick up the other ones sometime, especially the full paint brown version. I was told that the Garblin and Bozz protos will come with weapons. Not sure how true that is but it came from a reliable source. If so, that will be pretty damn cool. I am more excited about those guys than a lot of toys that are coming out lately. I think the green version was a test shot and I believe there will be all clear versions released as well, not sure though.
Don't know much about the company history, but DxSxHx releases have been all over the place. Snowmen - I've seen white, black and clear w/ white spray. Some have a handful of little skulls included. 12" Stag Beetles - The original releases were sold in a box with 1 suit and 1 obitsu body. Some of the releases even had 'custom' obitsu bodies in different colors, with custom markings (as noted by bansheebot) or, in one case, reengineered with multiple arms. I've heard that the suits did not sell well, and as a result, DxSxHx reduced the release numbers and sold suits only. One of the last sets- the Walder tribute- was sold in a numbered edition of only 10 pieces. More recently, they've 'reissued' some of the clear color suits in the header/bag format. Akuma-kun- I believe there are a total of 6 sculpts in this line now. I've seen an unpainted flesh release and painted versions of each. Not sure what the characters are from. RADD/Garblin/Bozz - The newest line from DxSxHx. You guys seem to know more about these than I do.
Yeah I have a bunch of the akuma kun figures...they're great and remind me alot of the Mizuki line that sunguts is doing. Unfortunately I don't know any of the names of the characters, so I have to refer to them as the "pineapple-lookin dude", the cat with wings, "skull mummy-guy" etc.
I personally think the Akuma-kun stuff is their weakest. I even like Snowman the Nightmare more than those guys. Edit: Oh yea: Akuma-kun Characters: Pineapple dude - Kaju Robot dude - Gohlem (Golem?) Cat with wings dude - Koumori Neko (Bat Cat) Mummy dude - Tutanghamen (Tutankhamun?) Short hairy with big face dude - Yonarde Pazztohle Elephant dude - Zohjin Skeleton Set: Cloaked dude - Haita Denka ("Toothache"?) Skeletons - Gaikotsu Otoko (Skeleton Man)
I saw the flesh Akuma Kuns and cursed ye gods that I didnt have the cash to get em. Well off to the wanted list they go.
Nice to see some Darkside fans around. I won't say I have been a regular fan but the new Garblin & Bozz set certainly did not disappoint, they are really nice. Unfortunately there are not too many of these proto blacks released or it will be another cool candidate to build an army with other then the Space Troopers. The green set shown at WF was sample and not released yet, so the proto black is the only set so far. Cool figures with little buzz. I like.
I've been hooked on DSH for a while now. I'm really stoked to see the 2 new figures actually released. They showed protos of them on their site SOOO long ago. I have a brown RADD and it rules! Hopefully down the road we'll continue to see sick Star Wars tributes out of them.
I have one of the mummy guys in my celga box. These guys looks about the size of a heater or a little smaller right? I'm starting to like that size toy more an more.
Got these today. These exceeded my expectations, I love them! Thanks to the board member who helped me snag these. Both have axes but I only put one in. I need to use a blow dryer on the other one. It was tough to fit them in.
those are f***** awesome. I know these are star wars based...but they remind me a LOT of rocksteady and bebop as well...
Gamorrean Guard style on the right? I dig it! What's the one on the left? I've never seen/heard anything from this company before, now I got somethin new to look into -sigh-
Thanks for your help Joe! I cannot express how much I love these figures. I think the axes were Japan only. Once I heat the other guy up I'll slap the other axe in. It was a pain to get both staffs in. I really hope to see more sculpts that fall into the Star Wars world.
Do these guys have their hand grips punched out like the boogies or do or are the holes for their weapons solid vinyl inside the grip?
