this is terrible... i just got home and was able to see the devastation. I'm glad so many of you over there are okay, i hope you all find those your unable to reach all right. I'm sorry for all the loss out there. so sad.
This is just so terrible... Hope Baikin is doing ok and his wife. How about Joe (maxaltoman)? Have we heard from him?
I just got home from work too, I hate to see this. Glad to hear from many people and I wish everyone there the best.
I have been trying to keep up with this terrible news while at work today. Seems the outlook just keeps getting worse- now with the release of possibly contaminated steam from the nuclear plants. Positive thoughts going out to everyone in Japan. I cannot wait to get home and read through this thread. Especially hoping all of the Skullbrain family members in Japan are safe.
Heard that Dennis is okay. If his wife was in Tokyo at the time, she should be okay as well. Also heard that Kazu, Ricky and Aya, are okay.
Just received word from Joe (maxaltoman), and though he had a pretty scary day in his office building yesterday, he is fine. Still waiting to hear back from Dennis.
I've heard from Joe (maxaltoman) and Kazu-san (Itokin Park). Both are fine. Joe seems to be stranded in his office building still. Luke from Lulubell's is fine also. From Joe's email: "it was horrifying. i really thought my office buidling is collapsing as the shaking got worse & worse and persisted. usually among colleagues we would laughed it off. then when the shaking got worse, everyone was not joking anymore!"
If you are a keeper of any sort of kaiju toy or Japan-related blog, please put up a post highlighting ways to give to relief efforts. I know the info on donating is easily available through many outlets, but if even one donation comes in through the links you post, it will have been worth it. I've done it and I will continue to update as necessary. Thanks!
Nari posted this on his blog, glad he is ok "The earthquake happened for 11 days in Japan. But,Tokyo was safe. In Elegab, there was no damage at all. Please you must not worry.. Thank you very much. "
And from Buta no hana: "I hope that everybody is safe you From pig nose time: 21:48 Label: Others Earthquake Tsunagarimasen the phone. We'll be fine. Well Ladies and gentlemen, please be careful"
It's a little after noon in Tokyo, and we're still getting fairly strong aftershocks. There were a couple really large ones in the middle of the night, and the most recent was was probably around 6 am. There's really no point in putting things back up on shelves, since the aftershocks will just knock them back down again. It looks like some trains are running again, so people should be slowly getting home finally.
Many options available if you can help! http://www.kfhc.us/home/2011/3/12/how-to-help-japan-earthquake-relief-options.html
My thoughts and prayers to all that are affected by the earthquake and tsunami. I'm really glad and relieved that the people we know have responded and eveyone's ok. Zollmen over in Hokkaido has posted too. Looks like the nuclear power plant did suffer some damage and news has it that the radius has been increased to 10 km instead of 3km.
Thanks everyone for thinking of Yuriko and I, we are fine, espcially now that we have power and water again a couple hours ago. It's was pretty scary though, we were on an elevated part of the freeway when it started and all I could think of was the collapse in Oakland in '89. I thought that was bad but this was worse and kept on going. The aftershocks didn't stop either and were pretty regular until about 6:00 this morning. Spent about 10 hours after the main quake trying to drive home, luckily we didn't take the train as the JR was not running at all yesterday. We had a tsunami here in Chiba too and a few people were killed and homes destroyed so it's been pretty awful. Seeing people panic for food and water was not too good to see today too, that was a first for me and I hope I dont see it again in. Now we just heard the Fukushima reactor exploded and are expecting a radiation cloud too maybe, maybe rain to make it even worse I heard. Supposedy not four people hurt in the explosion but I can't believe those will be the only casualties. I'm glad to hear everyone over here seems to be ok otherwise! I am just worried about M1 now, they are close to the Fukushima power plant so I am kinda freaking out.
Really glad to see your post, Dennis. OMG! M1go! No wonder Fukushima sounded really familiar. Worrying indeed.
great to hear you are doing well too dennis! just heard evacuation zone was expanded to 20 km. doesnt sound good. if u can, try to get iodine just in case. all the best to you guys - take care.
Yeah, the reactor thing is pretty scary. They have extended the evacuation zone from 3km to 10km then in the past hour to 20km. Not good stuff. Glad everyone here seems safe, that's good news. I have checked in with all my local Japanese friends and happily their families are ok as well. In a weird way I feel a bit bad for New Zealand. They have to pretty much flatten Christchurch (hopefully they will rename it as well) and completely start over with the city. I know loads of people who were effected by that. Now though, I don't see them getting much more international support with Japan's devastation completely overshadowing them.
Just received news that he and family are safe. Very glad to hear that, hopes everyone else in Japan are safe....
Shig is probably eating Captain Crunch right now...trust me on this Datadub lives! Mori and family are well too. I am in HK, and supposed to land at Haneda on Wednesday, radiation permitting....super scary.
