Yes, most M1 figures have a gloss clear coat. On some figures you can actually see the depth of the clear coat. After seeing Yuji-san paint the Matango I looked at my painted yellow Lucky Bag Matango and there is a spot on the left leg where he missed the clear coat, exactly where he's holding the Matango in the video. Hey Roger - check out Masaru, the master of teeth and eyes! That's an awesome brush he's using. I'm bringing him a bag of latex gloves if he goes to Chiller.
Well, Yuji is a smoker... Yeah, it looks like Masaru's the only one who got face time in addition to Yuji, and he probably wouldn't say anything anyway. As far as I know, he will be at Chiller.
I'm a smoker and there's no way I can handle the fumes. On another note, when I burp with my respirator on, it smells. Lol.
it's wonderful to see the artist's at work......now i can look at my m1's with a new found fondness......thanks for sharing the link.
Superstar! From the looks of his hands I'd say the master is giving him some spray time. Coolest apprenticeship ever.
Of course they do detail work like the teeth and eyes with brushes. Once I asked Masaru what his least favorite figure was. "King Ghidorah." It means 3x the work for him.
I made my post in reference to the fact that some people on here hate it when people paint figures with paintbrushes and think that the only way to paint is with an airbrush. Sarcasm never reads well on any forum. I was wondering about that too. After Yuji sprayed the figure, he just handed it to Dennis and I thought "What about the foot he was holding on to...isn't he going to spray that?"....and now I know.
just amazing to get a behind the scenes look into such an awesome company. this must have been a great experience... thanks for posting!
I didnt talk about the video because as some of you know I hate my picture being taken as I always look like some crazed hobo 90% of the time. But it was pretty fuckin awesome and I have to thank my friend here in Japan working that out so I could go up there, Yuji and everyone at M1GO rule. It was a promotional trip for Beams which is a clothing retailer here in Japan focused on young people.
So the trip to M1GO was part of the promo for Beams (Beams is cool) or was it more of a "Hey...M1GO is near where we're doing the promo. Can we check it out?" kind of thing.
It was for Beams specifically, there was a free DVD given out at the stores a the beggining of this year. We made the video about 1 year ago.
thanks for the link chris!! what a breath of fresh air from all the recent BS round these parts yeah,,that is hardcore,,no gloves or masks... dennis,,good going!! that must have been a great privilege to do...
Dennis I'm so envious you got to go to the motherland (for me at least it would be M1). What an experience that must have been. One question I'm sure on everyone's mind is : YOU KEPT THAT MATANGO RIGHT? LOL!
