forget teleportation I wish Dokodemo-door existed I wish I could go, I want to see a lot of pics and high scores!! hehe
Even today, I keep the Tempest widget on my Google desktop - Not quite the same on a keypad, without a 'dial' to spin, but still my all-time fave. I wondered why the Super7 7th is June 7, instead of a month later - I might have expected it to be 7.7 at 7, but it could have something to do with 6.7 being a Saturday, and 7.7 being a Monday. Or maybe June is the actual anniversary month ... Kudos again to stealthtank for figuring out the Hull Building puzzle!
You know what they say, "fifteenth times a charm!" You my friend, rule! I'd love to sit there and watch that.
agreed....Tempest was the shit. Of the games going to be present at Flynn's Arcade, I sucked at most of them, but I can get my egg on with Joust
+1 I love Joust! I can also hold my own on Ms. Pac Man... I love Donkey Kong, but I'm totally horrible on it, these days.
my old warehouse space in brooklyn,,,i lived in the treehouse structure,,,besides the games in pics,,we had marble madness,,sit-down star wars,,table top asteroids,,,tempest and moon patrol...good times!!! no quarters needed,, maybe some nyc brainers came to one of our parties?? wish i could make it out to sf for the anniversary party!!! i would be up for the arcade game challenge!!
it is on kent avenue,,between grand & north 1st street... the games were there from 96'-98'....the space has transformed a few times,,but the majority of the parties were around that time...good times indeed!!
we have joust and frogger in the office kitchen. one bulgarian chick thinks the mario bros. game (original bump the turtle from beneath and kick for coin game) is called "mario bras". i love misinterpretations made by foreigners, except when i happen to be one. tangent aside, i will be there as it will be my one year anniversary of buying anything from Super7 (first time was last anniv party). super excited!
Still there I believe. Barcade! Fun place till the Bloods show up I think toys and arcade games are the ultimate though. Wish I could be there.
I sucked at most of those games but got pretty good at Ms. Pac Man. As a result, the "music" from that game is permanently stuck in my head. I also liked ... what was it called, Battlezone? The wireframe sci-fi tank simulation. Eerie.
speaking of music...i'll have to dig up some special jams for this occasion. The Advantage anyone? Dean, I challenge you to a Ms. Pacman competition!
Is that one gonna be there? You're on bro! I haven't played since, oh, 1984 or so. I wonder if I have any hand-eye coordination left?
Coincidentally, I have been looking into buying a Tron game for the store. I would love a discs of tron with the full size cabinet. I also used to love that game especially the bad ass glowing joystick.
the standing disc version would be hard-to-come-by and expensive i imagine... i bet the regular version with the multi-games would be easier to source...although the over-sized joystick may be hard to find in good condition...the joystick on the one at my old house was patchy sometimes (it got bashed a lot on the laser cycle game)...
There's an upright version in Pennsylvania for $1500 on the bay. I have been drooling over it for awhile. Maybe one day..
This event sounds freaking awesome! I have to find a way out there so i can meet everyone and get in on the games!
