    Funko X Playmobil thoughts?
These are pretty cool, issues with Funko aside, but honestly, why would they make them 200%?? I really don't get it at all. 'Cause it is definitely not for playability, and as demonstrated by the reactions in this thread - myself included - it is not for nostalgia's (or fans of Playmobil) either. So I have to ask myself, "huh?" I mean, I presume that it is purely for a <ahem> collectors' market, but that is just BS, and if anything, Funko should know from their experience how saturated the market with truckloads of cutified product that does nothing is not really going to benefit anyway. But hey, I guess they are raking in the money because they don't, and really just don't care.

I mean, these look nice, and are interesting concepts, but diving back to the pop culture well, sizing up for no apparent reason, and removing everything that made these toys good - because, let's be honest here, with simplistic designs like Playmobil and Lego it is all about imaginative play, inter-connectivity, and a fair amount of detail per size, while maintaining a distinct style - just seems foolish or at in the very least disrespectful to the origins of the toys. No kid (or grown-up adult) is going to want to play with an up-sized smooth block figure (or chunky figure, or SD figure, or .....) so why even do it? At least keep the market alive and allow these toys to interact with the normal ones. It is such a simple and obvious choice. I foresee a lot of shelf fillers, unless (which would not surprise me) they try to do some BS 'limited number' thing to get them, which for toys like these is even stupider. Oh wait, that is half their business model.

Anyways, rant, rant, rant, gripe, gripe, gripe. [This is SB after all though] Suffice it to say that at a regular size I could see myself buying a whole bunch of these, but now, I probably wouldn't want one. They might be okay to look at, but these are shelf standers, where they should be jumbled up in big families and filling toy boxes until their next adventure.

Most certainly for the collector's market, but the fact that they specifically call these 200% makes me think that a 100% line will come. So all hope isn't lost for the kiddies. You know funko will take it as far as they can. I foresee a Kubricks strategy, with blind boxes of Disney characters, etc, etc, in a plethora of sizes.

Also, from those examples shown in this thread so far, the only ones the majority of children will know right away are the TMNT characters. [sigh] how I loved growing up with the toys of the 80s.

Aside from the gitd pirate skeleton ghosts and the classic sheet ghost Playmobil toys, I was more of a Lego schmo.

Congratulations to those of yall excited about this tho. I prefer the fauxfubi, personally. But stuff like this is always fun :)

I saw some funko license stuff in a craft store the other day. Hadn't been following this thread. I was very surprised.
