I'm confused. If Wednesday night was preview night with 1-offs, what was up with the six or eight camo Zags? Or were they all painted slightly different and therefore considered 1-offs? and different from the other camo Zags? I still don't get the Ooze Bat, especially with those ring things all over it.
I think the Camo Zags were considered in the same group as the 1-off's. Maybe not 1-off's officially, but super-duper-limited-not-really-SDCC-production-exclusives-for-Wed/Preview-night-only. At least that's how it seems to me. W/Ooze-bat did you see what it's based on? The Ooze-It figure?
It explains the rings: http://mishkanyc.com/bloglin/2009/07/20 ... n-ooze-it/ EDIT: I got beat to it.
ALSO Hank's postin pics again, scope his flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/hch3/ I can't believe that HP Ooze Bat is still there?!?! Ugh, I want it! Also, I guess the only standard Zags were the camo's, huh>?
The Gargamel table of production pieces is okay, but wish they delivered a standard something or other. A little underwhelmed but the hype was massive.
oh the pain, can't believe the ooze bat custom and Bangal custom are still avail, any kind wealthy souls feel free to hook one of those up
It appears this will be the first year that they have not had a standard production Zag for sale. Don't see it. Although I love all the customs, I was really hoping for a new SDCC standard Zag. EDIT: I just got confirmation that they have no standard size Zag or production Mibora. No erasers for sale, despite the earlier pictures. They went all out on the customs, but they are very light this year on production figures.
Would have been perfect timing to offer a standard production release of a Mibora that has been in hiding since January for the non-custom crowd. Or even a Bako.
I kind of think Mibora might be custom-ONLY, just a guess. It's based on an actual kaiju, right, not a bootleg like the IKB stuff? Bako would have been perfect. Clear w/guts, nice bright colors, oh well.
Yeah I think this blog entry says something like that: http://blog.livedoor.jp/gargamel/archives/50756122.html. Was kind of disappointed not to see any smog monsters this year. The biskup toy looked nice but I think I'll wait for a painted version. All I picked up was a shirt.
Huh. Yeah, after the flurry of excitement over the customs their wares are a bit disappointing. The best is the Beetlar - didn't know it was a "Gargamel" figure for SDCC.
So the Camos were only offered for preview night? It's sort of odd because in the pic below from Turtlegod there appears to be numbering on the bottoms of the Zag feet that say; 26/30, 11/30, ...that is all I can make out. So it begs the question, are these left-overs from the Japan release but without bags or are these the US releases and more will be released in the next few days...... or are some of us just s.o.l..and the remaining Zags from the U.S. run of 30 are just gone?
Mibora is loosely based on Aboras, an Ultra kaiju (someone else on the board discovered this). I don't think there was ever an original toy of this character. I don't understand the reasoning behind holding this sculpt out only for customs. It was said earlier that they did not feel it fit in with their Zokki Kaiju line. I wouldn't mind owning one of these, but I can't justify a $200+ custom. Weird. Beetlar is nice... I wonder if these were leftovers from the GID run or if Buster Call is still around.
His website hasn't been updated in quite a while. That'd be great if Gargamel bought the character and continued to produce it! Though if that were the case it might mean it'd be released more frequently and my bank account wouldn't be happy about that. I'd like to see a Beetlar / Galtan two-pack!
Your confirmation on the resin Thrashman erasers is off target. You can see them in several of the pics on the vinyl pulse link
Just to fill everyone in. These camo zags were left overs from Japan. They were supposed to be the ones sold at Super7 but they never made it. They came with boxes and burlap sacks. I'll post pictures once I get home to Arizona but mine is still tapped in it's box. Also from what I can gather I think we won't be seeing a production Mibora any time soon. Just one offs.
