In enjoyment of my new MacBook I want to run a poll: Mac vs PC. Since I can run both on my MacBook I want to know which OS you would use most. I am familiar with both OS so I don't really care. The MacBook cost about $100 more and it has a crappy video card vs. a similar pc portable. Sound Off! Let's find out if this is a mac or pc board.
Neither personalities but i'm happier on a PC than on a mac. Plus I can get a decent game actually running on a PC.
i grew up with pc's and was pretty anti-mac for a long time. then i got a g5 imac a couple years ago and i dont see any reason to go back to a pc, at least for home use anyway.
I have PC, but I keep hearing that if I try a Mac I won't go back . How is Mac vs PC agains't viruses ?
less than 20% off all know viruses will run on a Mac. that does not mean one good string of code won't ruin your day.
Viruses are created to destroy PC's, macs are left virtually untouched. Although I would laugh my ass off if a virus fucked up a mac.
all the new blue tooth viruses work cross platform. they are not very dangerous now but they may be someday.
A computer is a computer. I have both pcs and macs and an image manipulated in photoshop in either os looks the same. Same with digital audio. Since the programs are the same in both, for a task oriented person, it shouldn't make any difference. I like the way the mac os works, but i don't hate how the windows one works either. I do hate the baggage that Mac's carry with them. I hate how if you're hip, you have to be using a mac. If you use a PC you're as good as computer literate white trash. I don't like how apple has played this up and made macs more about status than functionality. I understand that since they're more expensive to buy, they have to work an angle other than functionality (why buy a $50 hammer to hammer nails when you can get a $10 hammer that does it just as well). The virus thing will change as more people use macs, and hackers and nogoodnicks capitalize on it.
I am not sure the PCs do the job just as well as a Mac, at least if you count stability, reliability, and ease of use as part of doing the job. I have used both systems extensively over the years. My clear preference is the Mac, primarily because it just takes less fekking around to get the job done.
Yeah, I suppose it might. But at least for the jobs I use a computer for, no contest in ease, etc. And regardless of the job, Windows in general just is so "crippled" or something (not the right word, but something definitely sucks about it).
i rarely have crashes on either my pc's or my mac's and i run them hard. A well set up computer of either variety will be stable and reliable. I'll admit in windows 95 days, there were a lot more weird crashes, but in 2000 and xp, the stability is drastically improved in my experience. I don't know how you can objectively say ease of doing the job is better on macs. Photoshop works exactly the same as does office, or illustrator, or ableton live, or wavelab. Companies that design applications intentionally design things similarly for both os's so users can move freely between them. I highly doubt that adobe has someone saying "I like mac's better so let's make photoshop harder to use on a pc and alienate that significant part of our client base." If people had the balls to say they just liked macs (or pc's) better instead of making faulty 'objective' justifications, then there'd be no problem. Dogma is for fools. All i'm saying is there's not really as much of a difference between the two. I like them both, they're both fun.
Yeah, I don't have any way to compare them objectively and didn't mean to imply that. It is just my impression, and, on a completely subjective basis, I just like macs better.
i run macs and PCs and to me there is just no comparison..the PC is cheaper, runs more software...and just feels easier to use than a mac..ive been working with macs for years and they still piss me off
i get plenty of free porn. sometimes my job really pays off. and to the topic at hand (no pun intended)... macs rule. end of story.
