Damn I need to get this! Sweet and sick, Anyone have the NYCC grody mashup in hands? Wanna see them in full glory!
so i have been watching ebay for a few items, and i dont know much about it, but the superfest rainbow painted ojisan went for 150 bucks, is it super rare? i just wondering about its rarity and how hard it would be to find one as i would like one eventualy but 150 for a 28 dollar toy is a bit crazy
Welcome to the board, and a big thanks (I am pretty sure you are owed) to efforts at NYCC. I would suggest steering well clear of evilbay if you can at all avoid it. Those prices are, frankly, ridiculous, and they would never fetch anything near that (for my mind anyways) among the folks on SB. As to the 'Sherbert' release itself, it is pretty much brand spanking new, and I am sure some people haven't even received their shipments from Lulubell yet. What's going on is just deliberate flipping to make a fast buck of the Grody trend, whereas if you are patient, one will likely be available, and can find it's way into your home in short time. Hope this helps. Final thought: sure if you have the cash, you are welcome to pay whatever you want to get instant satisfaction. But you will miss out on the joy of the hunt, and also the friends you can make along the way.
http://178.63.47.214/toy/18238/ im talking about this, thankfully i already scored sherbert monster in trade, the one above just sold for 150, and i like it and have been looking for one and was wondering if it is super rare, or someone just happened to want it badly

Oops, my mistake. That is the recent collaboration between Luke Rook (Grody Shogun) and Ilanena (another Japanese kaiju artist). Although the Ojisan usually is paired with his kaiju automaton Karakuri, this particular case was the first time only one of the duo was released. It was released at SuperFestival in Japan this past September, so on the grand scheme is still fairly new and not that rare. I wasn't following the auctions, but similar rules would still apply for me to this guy. For some more info on Grody Shogun figures http://skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=40481 EDIT: just saw your list man Wow, talk about getting in to it with a bang. I think you have far surpassed most fans on the board already
Yea many people helped me out as i nabbed a bunch of frostys for different people so that helped. i am primarily looking for wonderfest and us release ojisan and karikuri sets, i passed on the wonderfest at NYCC out of distraction and was kicking myself when they were already sold when i went back.
lots of things in mail, getting 3 monsters tomorrow, and nerd pellet, and then more to come! pics tomorrow night when i get home, and im super excited as my WRX is getting tuned, i have been working on it for months, and were hoping to hit 400WHP!!!
I haven't been really excited by a toy for a while, and for 30 bucks a pop, Grodies are something affordable and really fun to play with (and with articulation and changeable parts!). Unlike the 200+ to few K+ usd stuff that people are used to buying which are normally chucked into their display cabinet untouched.
I felt bummed for not going out and celebrating Halloween festivities tonight but this made up for it.
