Ok, so once again I screwed up on my tax with holdings this year and will end up paying about $2400. No bid deal really cause I got a decent bonus this year and will end up using it to pay Uncle Sam instead of Best Buys LCD TV section. LOL

But that's neither here nor there, Here is my dilemma. There is a piece of original art I can get my hands on that's around $2500 which right now I really can't afford. But I really want it. But on the other hand I really hate carrying credit card debt even though I'd be able to pay it off in a couple of months. But then again, I still have a few rare Funko pieces that I can sell and raise about half of the price.
So give me your advice, do I say fuck it and get the art? Or do I play Mr. sensible and not spend what I don't have?

Art purchases are tough like that. From a distance I say go for it because I can and I love buying original art as often as possible.

If it was me, you have to weigh how fast you can pay it off the credit card. How much interest will accrue before you pay it off, that's the final price so keep that in mind. I am not a fan of credit card debt at all because they are ruthless money making machines.

If you can live without the Funko pieces I say offload 'em and cary half on the CC over a month or two!

I did the same with all my 8" [expletive deleted] and Thundermutts (all the self hyping, not coming up with the goods, inadequate customer service and International shipping bendover kinda came to a head . . . fuck 'em and good riddance) . . . once they're gone it's like they were never there!

As therapy I just got back up to speed with the Skullpirates . . . if buying your 'art' is anything like as euphoric . . . hit it hard and fast! :D

I had a chance to buy a beautiful Soto piece for a song but I had just bought a house with my girlfriend and we were trying to be responsible home owners and save money...It is one of my biggest regrets, her's too. You can't even find Soto prints for what we could have gotten that piece for. Not that the price matters as far as the beauty of it goes but we can't afford to get one of his pieces now...

Go for it. If it means more to you than the Funko stuff sell that to pay it down and then pay off the rest as fast as you can.

We learned our lesson now and we don't hesitate. Now we have an origional Biskup, Baseman, and Fairey

Just imagine how you would feel if you didn't buy it now and when you actually do have the funds later, it was already sold. At that point, would you think back to now and have purchased it with Credit Cards?

It's a like a mental time machine: If only I could do this over.....

I say go for it. Credit Card Debt is under rated.

Do it when your free and clear. The banks love all the interest money people GIVE them for FREE ! There is always something new you just gotta have rite around the corner. If anything we should all know that from this forum.

Again, I find myself agreeing entirely with Lee. I'd add that if you make this purchase with a CC, that makes it a whole lot easier to take the plunge the next time, and the next time...and even to look for things to take the CC plunge on. It's cool to own nice stuff but no fun at all to be forced into living month to month because of overspending or CC debt.

I don't worry about that. I'm 38 years old and have avoided serious credit card debt my whole life. I haven't carried a balance in over 6 years. Always pay off entirely every month.

But very good advice for those that can't control their spending!!!

That's cool. I just see so many other folks so neck deep in CC debt, they talk as if the remaining balance on their CCs is actually part of their savings account. ;)

Nothing wrong with CCs, as long as you pay your balance in full each month. Hard earned lesson after going through years carrying debt and paying the man bundles of interest all along.

Anyway, let us know what happens!

sell the funko buy the art. Don't put the whole think of the CC. Selling the funko will balance off the debt and if you can bring yourself to sell the funko it means you really want it.

I spent several days mulling it over to make sure that I wasn't going to spend $2700 on a whim. I ask all of you for advice and thought it over and said Fuck It I'm buying the damned thing...
Sooooo, part two of the story. IT SOLD YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Just my luck.

So instead I bought an amazing print for $2000 less.
