Isn't it like this in most genres Go to a metal show now and if you're in the pit and fall over, you get stomped on, not helped up anymore.
i stand in the back. I dont want anyone to step on my sneaks. and I dont really go to metal shows anymore now that I think of it.
I can't argue with that. When we go out now it is usually to see one DJ or act. We take a quick strike approach becasue I can only handle it for about 2 hours. I am a little nervous about this music in a big trendy room, I can't imagine how it will work Take a listen to goodbye swingtime. It is a fantastic album (and I mean album, it works as a whole). I hope saturday night does not ruin it for me.
Yeah, pretty rare. We've talked about Indie rock in a few places as well, but overall various metal sub-genre's seem to have the most pro-ponents here.
kind of an Epilogue to this whole discourse. I still rank Meat Beat Manifesto's Satyricon album as one of my all time favs and still listen to it to this day. but Jack Danger's earlier records and releases on NOTHING don't really count either, do they?
Hey now! I will post the Epilogue on sunday after the show. I love that album but I have not listened to it in years. It would probably take me two hours to find it. I am not sure about the other stuff, a quick discogs search didn't jog my memory. I did find a picture of his studio (I think).
i don't even know how anyone can reference any rave culture in america since there is none and really hasn't been for years. that said, some of us share a common love electronic music whether or not its rave-related. i'll always be an electronic music fan, even if i'm sober and home alone. glenn i agree with you about the large venues. the crowds are so unfamiliar now and aren't always there to actually see the performer atease, i've always had a horrible time at clubs in boston!! obviously haven't been in years, but too many wanna-be beefcake frat types. and... we need to talk soon! i went to all the planet parties not only cuz i was a raver, (yes, i know, 12 hail marys and 10 of the Lord's Prayer) but because the promotor, Phat O, was part of our extended crew in Syracuse (where i went to school) I'm curious to see if you went to Earth (when the sewage erupted into the venue ... lol) also went to tons of parties in NY, Jersey, CT, mass, penn... etc. will pm
haha!! i graduated in '98... what school/major were you? i have a degree in ETS (english and textual studies) so i spent most my time in the Hall of Languages
going back in... my BA isn't really relevant to ..ummm.. anything. lol i hope to be fulltime next year but i'm going PT for now. for nursing, nuts right? i'm sure NYU was an awesome choice for you, but newhouse would have been rad too!! if i could rewind i would have done a double major with newhouse, but i didn't really know what i wanted at the time. u grad from NYU?
im confused. could we or could we not have bumped into each other along the way at syracuse and never said a word to each other until ten years later on an internet nerd board? and yes I grad'ed from nyu
i doubt we met, but u know how a school like that is... u can see the same people walking around for 3 or 4 years and never know their names. 3 cheers for bastard toy boards!~
I am getting excited, only two hours and a pitcher of margaritas separate me from the man with the big band!!!!
