It's both. The archivist comment was supposed to be a joke. Got a new camera and any day now I plan on figuring how it works. In the meantime, many pictures from a while back at October Toys website including magic slate collection (about 80) and roly poly collection (about 60) and designer toys (about 160). Found some old photos on photobucket -- picked a few out. /2009-04-05swap_0013.jpg[/img] The above shark is made in Japan sofubi/kaiju.
good grief, no need to take off your pants in a thread labeled "sofubi" and spam it with an endless stream of irrelevant photos. please move those photos to a "show your collection" post and link to it from here if you're trying to make a point (?).
Two different people questioned my honor and integrity; basically stating without pictures (proof) I am a liar. So I show some pictures to prove I am not a liar and now I get my head bitten off because, according to you, I posted them in the wrong place. Can't win with you guys. Pictures of toys on a website devoted to toys is not spam. If you don't like the pictures, you can always close your eyes, or skip over them, or please feel free to do what Oedipus did when he found out he was doing his mom.
take it easy toypsycopath ! your vast amount of collectibles certainly made me feel more sane after feeling down for a while, now back to the relentless pursuit of toy collecting
wow! tons of different stuff, I dont think I would be able to have so many collections, plus all the things that must cross over. Btw, that Mazinger thin toy is a beauty. and yeah, add a spoiler tag, not because the toys are bad or whatever, but it keeps the page short. Either way, a lot of neat and different stuff there that I'd never seen or imagined existed.
You have all the Culture novels. You must be a good person. And Toypsychopath has a Skumbo. That truly makes him someone who will collect anything, thus a hoarder.
First of all: If you take this phrase seriously, you're in the wrong place. Actually if you take anything on here seriously, you're in the wrong place Second of all: Pics of toys on a website devoted to toys...yes, not spam. Pics of toys that are not even connected to the topic...I think that does fall under spam. Pics of toys that are not part of what the forum is about...I think also falls under spam. It's been said many times before. There are other toy forums for those toys. Third of all: If you really think people are attacking you (by saying things like "pics or it didn't happen"), get off your self-made pedestal. I'm just a guy that buys toys, like everyone else on here....very specific type of toys, but toys nonetheless. If you have a thin layer of skin, grow a thicker one. It's like Prince said: "Act your age, not your shoe size..."
I keep to around 50 but about half of those are finger puppets. Took a break which allowed me to reassess and keep to a theme. I always thought that was a Mother Theresa.
Geez we need to start making sure the n00bs get a "leave your sensitive pants at the door" message before they start posting.
Been collecting toys for 28 years; yes I take it seriously. So you guys who spend $50 to $100 a pop aren't taking it seriously? No sofubi photos (except the shark guy) as sofubi are new and photos are old. What's a "skumbo"? Age is 52. Shoe size is 13 extra wide. If I was acting my age, I wouldn't be buying toys, now would I?
Sorry, thought "skumbo" was his term. Don't know the names of all the toys I have. Got him on sale real cheap like $10 when I was just starting out with designer toys. Not exactly my favorite toy, but don't think that makes me a hoarder, though (the 400 plus boxes of toys I have though arguably could make me a hoarder ). And hoarder is such a negative word. I prefer serial collector. How about archivist? How about poor impulse control when buying toys? Much nicer than hoarder.
