http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk4mOltlbZw some of you, like I, might not know exactly where many of the different kaiju come from that companies, ranging from Bullmark, Marusan, M1 up to X Plus and more, have produced figures for. Take a gander at this, sit back and smile at how brilliant and original people were "back in the day" Man, I'd love to have these on DVD....
funny that you brought this up......i've been watching these clips lately as well.....great stuff.....anybody know where i can get these dvd's, and if they are region free?
you can find the DVDs -- I goggled a bunch of 'em but it looks like none are subtitled. There was a box set that came out a few years ago and there are dvd copies floating around. I've been reading the Tsuburaya bio book that came out this year and all of the talk about UltraQ had me really interested and wanting to see the show. Little did I know how many of the vinyl Kaiju I have on my shelves came from this influential show!
ultra q is awesome! twilight zone meets godzilla! you must see them ! you'll laugh you'll cry.I have the set in japanese , cant copy them. buy it at all costs.buy a region free dvd! good luck!
yeah the Tsuburaya book is the one i'm currently reading too, it's awesome!.....he was truly a visionary....he and his fellow artists/filmakers created soo much of what we love.....now i just need to track down some dvds....
I just retired an Apex AD-600A DVD player, which will not only play all region DVDs, it will also defeat Macrovision copy protection (by punching an elaborate series of buttons, which gets you to a 'secret' onscreen menu amusingly titled "You Should Not Be Here"). If you'd be willing to make copies for Skullbrainers at a fair cost (and if it is indeed Macrovision that is protecting your DVDs from copying), I'd be willing to send you this player for only the shipping cost to get it to you ... Public Kaiju Service! Waddaya think?
No sweat (and of course I wouldn't even propose it for anything that was actually available for sale in the US).
there seems to be so much intrest in ultra q that i am amazed at the fact that no company has dubbed or subtitled it .this is the show that really started the whole vintage vinyl boom .
yeah - I have to agree. I wonder, though, if people didn't since it wasn't a well-known show? I think many people would know ultraman or spectreman since both were on TV a while ago. Heck, even Kamen Rider was on FOX about 8 years ago! The big surprise is that there hasn't been any fansubs of it. seems like fansubbers are pretty rabid when it comes to doing something unique...although without the source material I guess it's hard to release something
