That was a useless response, but considering you didn't bother to actually read the thread and understand what the issue is, I'm not surprised.

Since you apparently fell asleep I'll remind you what the real issue here is: It isn't about not shipping internationally nor about mis-understanding the YJA seller due to translation problems. His auction text says, perfectly clearly and in Enlgish:

"The foreigner cannot participate even if it lives in Japan.'"

Venemous Duck, based on the information we have available to us, you are correct.

Locomoco, I can find pleny of odd sounding translations too but there's really nothing at all ambiguous about this one. Even if there were, it's supported by the response greg got from Celga when they tried to bid.

In fact in an earlier post you also experienced this and know that Celga had to use an alternate ID to get your bid accepted, so why are you now trying to say this isn't true?

Because I don't know the people selling these items. I have no idea that this is an individual doing this, or that this is merely a setting that has been translated poorly (a la Engrish.com).

Rather than jumping to conclusions and making assumptions, I'm willing to give the benefit of a doubt that this isn't as ominous as you're making it out to be.

Even if it's someone's wish that they don't want to sell to you, then just don't... seems pretty simple to me.

I'm sure glad I live in America where no racism or bigotry or jingoistic views exist...

You mean besides the fact that the seller added it in the text listing of his auction description, and that Celga specifically said that's what it meant?

So only people who live in countries without any bigotry at all can say that bigotry is a bad thing? I'll bet the bigots of the world love that kind of reasoning.

It's simple... believe what you wish. Do not tell everyone that we have to believe what you believe.

    Simple?

Never did, just discussing this topic on this discussion forum.

While we're at it, please don't tell others what we can or can't discuss.

I never said what you can or cannot discuss... my point is that you're coming to a specific conclusion that you cannot prove definitively, and passing it off as fact.

Are you still on about automated translations!? For god sakes look at the auction and see the English the seller put there so English readers would know to not bid.

That's not from any option setting as part of the listing because it's in the seller's text. If you don't understand what "seller's text" means, it's stuff written by the person selling the item. This has nothing to do with any programmatic translation.

Do you know for a fact the seller can speak fluent English or maybe hes using a TRANSLATING PROGRAM to put up his English, and BTW are you one of those types that always has to have the last word and whether you like it or i like it credibility counts for something here..Got a collection or just trolling to give people a hard time and get yourself soem attention??Pantaloon is looking for you if thats the case..Good way to start to w/7 posts of being an asshole!!!

Maybe the earth is flat too? Regardless no one has yet provided a plausible alternative meaning, and the direct reading is consistent with the original poster's experience.

That's pretty funny considering that a few posts ago you wrote: "No more arguement from me". :)

But you're right that I've had enough posts about this one topic. I've said my say.

By "credibility" I'm guessing you mean # of posts? I could have lots of posts if I wanted to just quickly respond without really understanding what the issue was, or if I just responded with meaningless stuff like "ZZZZ" ... but then you've already got that covered.

There could have been a translation mistake, but the auction clearly says (paraphrasing), "I will not sell to foreigners, even those living in Japan." It does not say (paraphrasing), "I will not ship internationally." Yahoo Japan Auctions appears to allow sellers to communicate their unwillingness to ship internationally with a standard notification in the auction details. Most YJA auctions have the same message: "海外発送はしません。(Seller will not ship internationally.)." Apparently, this particular seller felt the need to elaborate.

I think this is an interesting subject, and I'm happy that it's been brought to the forum's attention. According to a few of the most knowledgeable members of the forum, there are some people in the Japanese toy industry who do not want foreigners to possess Japanese toys. It sounds like these people represent a small minority within the industry, but nevertheless, they do exist. The author of this thread hopes that this type of resistance to foreigners does not increase over time. I feel the same way.
