I have three in black. Pissed that in my local Ikeas, they now only have the pine color. Do they still sell black elsewhere? this is a very old picture. it clearly does not reflect my new addiction with Japanese vinyl!!!!
I really want one because my other display units are nearly full. Unfortunately, the closest Ikea is 255 miles away It'd cost me around $60 to drive there and back...or over $100 to have one shipped to me.
Yeah, we have two Ikeas now here in Chicagoland, and I've never seen the black...looks like you may be out of luck. I'm always surprised that their shipping costs are so high...I know their pretty heavy packed up and everything but...
Never seen the black either. I've got two, but after SDCC we've got an Ikea trip planned in two weeks.
still debating if i want one... i'm still looking for a glass case on craigslist for free, because i'm a cheap-ass
never seen the black, but perfer it to the faux-wood veneer. i considered spraying mine, but was afraid vinyl would stick to the paint and get marked. anyone tried it?
None for me......yet. I'd like to find something else, but everything I've seen so far is uber expensive. I've been collecting toys for a while now, and I'm really sick of dusting! I've been thinking about breaking down and scooping up a 4 pack.
Yeah 5 here. I'd like to just paint the edges red on mine. I worry too about paint sticking to vinyl as this happened to my SUGs at my previous apartment. I think black construction paper or the like would suit you just fine. Or a felt maybe? They certainly aren't the best quality display cases but for 60 bucks you get your money worth. I noticed at SDCC the Kaching Brands booth had REALLY nice shelves that were made by http://tecnodisplay.com/ Sick expensive but they are the best quality cases I've seen. And have interior lights mounted as an option. The cases they had were the GL101 with mini-halogen lights.....$980+ 100 more if you want a mirror back.
I haven't seen the black here in MA, but I'm going to IKEA tomorrow to pick up two more, so I'll keep an eye out.
I think they have discontinued the black long ago... Painting the pine sounds good in theory, but would end up in a total disaster in my hands, i'm sure! I do like the idea of painting the edges so as not to worry so much about paint on vinyl transfer. for $60, you CANNOT go wrong. I've never had any problems with mine and i've had them for years. Even took one to Wondercon! i might have to go back to ikea and get another...
No glass. I like my toys accessible so I can play with them. (Of course, being accessible means the cats can get to them too, which is why there are no longer any toys on the bottom shelf )
i'd rather have one of these from sccandinavian designs: only thing wrong is that you can buy about 17 detolfs for the same price
