In addition to drinking and smoking, we Kentuckians share a love of plastic model building. I thought it was only fitting that I share some photos of my latest endeavor. [/img] [/img] I still have Hitler and Napoleon to go.
Burn in hell cagaSStro! Comemierda comunista! The only improvement to that model would be a bullet hole between the eyes. (Can you tell I'm Cuban?)
Paul K's is correct - Born Losers series of models made by the Aurora Model Company in the mid to late 1960's children - a long time ago....... There was a Hitler with a luger to his head and a Napoleon but I can't remember the scene. Very cool and very rare!
That's the really scary part. I'm really afraid that the Cuban government might try to clamp down even harder on dissidents, to hold onto control, and the U.S. government might try to squeeze the island harder economically by expanding the embargo. If that happens, the only losers will be the Cuban people. I was last there 2 years ago and the conditions for the regular people are horrible, but "the beard" and the top "communists" eat well every night, and have huge personal fortunes. I worry that it will get worse for the average Cuban before it gets better. I'm also afraid that Cuba might go back to being controlled by another U.S. backed puppet government, and become a tourist paradise where the local people have nothing (again).
Those indeed are the kits. I picked them up one by one on ebay, and didn't pay more that $20 a kit. The ones I have are reissues that come in a plain white box. The story I heard was that Parks (the company that made them) was primarily a plastics company. Years ago, someone went to the factory in Jersey and found the original molds there and paid next to nothing for them. That's where the reissues are coming from. I overheard this, so I could be totally wrong. I did drop the paint on that bad boy. I've got some Ed Roth and Weird-ohs kits done if anyone is interested in more pictures.
Ha! This is great- really nice paint-up, Paul! Say, if you're into modeling, do you ever make it to WonderFest in Louisville?
