Artist that are just starting out like Rich don't end up making much money from the sales of their toys. If he used the money from pre-sales to fund the making of Ollie he would end up with nothing. The donations he is asking for is not astronomical and it will fund getting Ollie made. Then he can deal with the sales aspects.
well.. for 25 bucks you get a shirt and 35 you get a shirt and print. doesn't sound like a bad deal. sort of like buying girl scout cookies where it helps fund whatever the hell girl scouts do.

So, if this is correct, he wants people to pay for the production of his figure so he can make money?? Shouldn't he make money off of future releases instead of have the production funded?
I think Rich has a deadline and the time it would take to make enough money on future releases won't cut it.
I don't understand the whining. If you want to contribute, you can. If you don't want to contribute, no one is making you. If you do contribute, you get some goodies and you might help expand the Kaiju Sofubi world. I haven't contributed. I might or I might not. But I don't think it's a bad idea.
When I clicked on the link to check out the rewards offered I was hoping for a chance at a pre order not a t-shirt. I am reluctant to invest in a toy that I will probably miss out on because of a lottery sale. ( sour grapes, I missed out on the sludge demon )
Rich used a website designed to help people fund projects that they're unable to fund themselves. Seems appropriate - it's a resource available to everyone, and it's an upfront way for him to look for a helping hand from those who are looking to monetarily help others. Rich did NOT (to my knowledge) post anything about this on skullbrain. For some reason I get the impression that there's a negative tone regarding Rich's funding request, and considering that he (smartly) hasn't asked for a handout here I don't understand where that tone is coming from.
I think rich will watch out for everyone who wants one of his toys. I recall him saying if you missed on the first release you would be a priority on the next release. I have no doubt if you want an Ollie sooner or later you'll get one at retail. He's not Bemon or NNN he genuinely wants people just to get a chance to enjoy his work. I chipped in 10. Rich is a good dude and just lost his job (which is probably why he's doing this). I'm glad to help a little. And hope MVH a prosperous future. Rich has put his time in. He deserves it.
That new offering is great. It is basically the price of a custom + a smaller one to match. If I could drop that kinda money to help out a buddy, I would
I'm happy to be able to pledge for this project. Rich's generous offer didin't leave me thinking twice. Halfway to the goal!
If that's the case...I'm pretty sure he could make that money in less then 5 minutes by selling some of his bemons and other toys And in turn buy those same toys back in a year when the toy 'world' continues to tumble. You gotta give to get...as they say. Anyway...the new donation thing makes way more sense now.
